I always say, life is long and winding, and it is agonising to go that long without things to make it enjoyable ;D

I’m realising a core hobby of mine, cooking, I have seriously underinvested in and it’s something I’m so richly passionate about, I’m gonna treat myself to that goddamned knife.

Just for fun, I made a lil fursona for the USPS at yesterday’s art jam, but I haven’t thought up a name for them yet… 🤔

Anyone got any suggestions? 📬😄

Anyone I know use lucidlink for collaborative video editing?

This ain’t unique to nuclear though.
They are hardened against planes flying into them, if our nuclear power plants are under such an aggressive attack the rest of the nation is likely to already also be in complete and utter disarray.

What’s the false premise? There is data to back all of this up, just as there is for the harm coal, oil and gas does.

I’d love to live in a world where we can just rely on solar, wind and hydro, but the pure physics of that reliably meeting all our energy needs just aren’t there yet.

Modern Nuclear power plants have countless redundancies and are hardened against these exact types of situations though.

Ahh don’t sweat that.
If you want to get into semantics that’s fine, but we would never be able to deplete earths stock making it almost renewable due to its pure energy density.
Nuclear slag account accounts for some 1/3,000,000th of waste that needs dealing with compared to fossil fuels globally.

‘Almost renewable’ I said.
It would be impossible to use up the entire earths amount or uranium, the sun would die before that at current energy uses globally.

Yes because you couldn’t possibly target an oil rig, crude oil storage, oil terminal, oil refinery, oil tanker or oil pipeline.

To clarify:
My argument isn’t taking solar, hydro, and wind into the equation.
I’m talking about fuelled plants not energy capture.

As for the waste, it has 1/3,000,000th waste production of fossil fuel, and the waste is used in many other applications in 2026

Okay if you want to get into semantics it’s not ‘renewable’ but we need so little of it that it’s essentially impossible to deplete.

As for the waste, that was an issue in the heyday, now the waste is used in so many other production chains I’d need to sit here for hours typing them all out.

I said:
“Renewable AND almost renewable”

The required amount of mass that has to go into a nuclear power plant for the power you obtain is so vastly disproportionate to every other energy source it is essentially renewable, before we run out uranium on earth the sun will have died.

It is statistically the safest energy source.
It has higher and far stricter safety guidelines than any other form of power generation on the planet.

ALL other forms of energy generation that require a fuel source are vastly more dangerous under operation or during and after catastrophe.

Eeeyup, solar and wind is great, but you need something to fill the gaps if there is shortfall

Government signed off on three modular nuclear reactors.
It’s really cool seeing this country steer into and accelerate directly toward renewable or almost renewable energy sources!

Victor Orbán is defeated by a massive majority.

A big win for democracy, a big loss for Russia and the removal of a massive blockade to the EU getting stuff done.
