That section of Hastings already sees upwards of 40 buses per direction per hour in the AM peak by the way.
How does that rank in the region for corridor sections with no transit priority? (and no, 2+ HOV lanes most definitely do not count as transit priority)

Metro Vancouver will soon have a corridor where two RapidBus routes overlap, and Burnaby has officially failed in providing ANY new transit priority.

Vision Zero was fun while it lasted but I'm really glad we've come to be more realistic and practical.
Single-door boarding on SkyTrain starts today.
What do you think about the new service change?
Happy Trans Day of Visibility! Todayβs a reminder to be you and be kind every day. πββοΈπ«Ά
People are still idling their cars and driving SUVs. Gas is too cheap.
I was out in the Burke Mountain area of Coquitlam yesterday and couldn't help but feel that an environmental crime was committed here. This is a direct downstream consequence of Vancouver's failure to allow housing and Metro Vancouver's disastrous regional planning that promotes greenfield sprawl.
"The increasing price of gas places a burden on workers. Government has an opportunity to help alleviate that burden by allowing workers the flexibility to work from home. This move would help reduce emissions and congestion.β
YES, AND...
It's almost as if stronger public transit could help here.
Everyone knows that some neighbourhoods are full of mansions for rich people.
But few realize that we have laws that artificially reduce the price of those mansions for those rich people.
We could change those laws, opening up a bunch of discount land to apartments.

This is one of the most embarrassing things I've ever seen.
Context: 400 year backlog of sidewalk maintenance. Ever-decreasing road quality.

I've spent years fighting for homes and a more affordable, equitable Vancouver.
Now I want to take that fight to City Hall as your councillor. Go to www.PeterForCouncil.ca and join OneCity so you can support Peter For Council and help me get on the ballot!

People hold signs at a rally in support of public transit in Metro Vancouver. It's very rainy.

Someone holds a sign that says "Save the Bus". They're also holding up an umbrella.
In March @movementyvr.bsky.social put on a huge rally to Save the Bus. The following month, Mayors and province came together and transit in Metro Van was saved from service cuts and a death spiral.
Soon, we will finally have service levels that go above and beyond what we haven't had since 2019π₯³ππ

- There is a counter protest to support social housing!!!!!!!!!!!!
We're still waiting for the TransLink survey results, and council's decision on the route is expected early next year. Send them an email about your preference if you haven't yet!

Vancouver Sun Graph of Average Annual Cost of Housing and Transportation in Metro Vancouver by Municipality Metro Vancouver can't solve cost-of-living crisis without addressing the cost of getting around While the multi-billion-dollar SkyTrain projects draw the most public attention β and money β thereβs another, often overlooked mode of transportation that Metroβs leaders view as a big part of the near-term solution: the humble bus. It's no surprise that housing in Metro Vancouver is expensive. But it might surprise you that for some parts of our region, transportation costs even more than housing.
