This war is so damn confusing. It’s why we shouldn’t let drunks and dementia patients run it.

Thank you, but we will continue to be slaves of the coders and their fekking updates making our phones slower and slower till we despondedly accept the need to replace them. Somehow, I don't see the EU tackling THAT issue. Hope I'm wrong.

Campaigners had to focus on one battle at a time and bottom trawling was the obvious choice in recent years, and it goes on. However, it is well known that gillnets and pelagic trawls are anything but clean fisheries. As usual, the key issue is enforcement. Regulate to death for nothing.

It's absolutely decisive, but not for the reasons they seem to think of.
US has been at war most of its history, but this time, it's a very tangible evidence of the deep crisis the States are in as a nation. And this is a crisis one cannot see the US coming out of better than before.

“This is the clearest picture we’ve had of the breadth of bottom trawling," said Dr. Sarah Foster of UBC's Project Seahorse. "It reveals just how many species are being caught, and how much we have been missing.”

It seems to me that today a second Cold War is going on, if ever the first one actually ever ended.
Thanks to Put1n, a man who's perpetuated himself in power, just like another man across the Atlantic would like to do.

And there are many more examples of images I have taken while underwater that evoque outer space. This little shrimp on a coral, the white tips of the polyps against the dark mantle, really make me think of a tiny cosmonaut looking down on me from a starry sky.🦑

A little brittle star (Ophiura sp) sits on top of a bubble alga (Valonia ventricosa) whose surface reflects the strobe light in bright blue, resembling a sky dome. White calcareous scales on the help creating this resemblance. The brittle star has 6 arms and is creamy with light brown center and bands along the arms.

Celebrating the worthy quest of our species into space these days, I always come back to this simple shot of a feather star on a bubble alga, because for some reason, I've always saw it as a kind of a cosmic image. (1 of 2 mini 🧵)

A starry dragonet sits calmly on a coral rock, seen laterally with the head pointing towards the right of the frame. The fish is red with white dotting resembling (vaguely) stars against a deep red sky. It is a close cousin of the mandarinfish and no less worth capturing, although catching these when mating is a lot more difficult than it is for their cousins!

They're spectacular! How about another beautiful starry fish? This one is a dragonet from Indonesia, 2010. 🦑
We look up to the skies, and find a fascinating mirror of beauty deep down as well.

Hey 🦑, apart from the obviously humongous meme potential, does anybody know what species this fish actually belongs to?

Salazar came to power ultimately due to the military coup of 1926, didn't he?

As someone who worked on fisheries management for a good length of my career, I can tell you this: to pretend that trawling the bottom does not have an impact on the water column is a humongous gaslighting stupidity.

Do not EVER ask the military to sort out political problems.
Someone from Spain (me) can testify about how horrible a mistake THAT can be.
