It has gotten easier the more time I’ve spent in front of the camera, but it always takes longer than I think it’s going to, and I definitely need multiple takes. And lots of editing. Ugghhhh.

Yep, making video makes me want to jump out the window, too. Even if you rehearse, wear your favorite outfit, film somewhere you feel comfortable, and find the perfect lighting and camera angle, it still may not feel easy.
Raise your hand if you hate creating videos for your social media!

We’re also looking for one more org to round out our sponsorships! If you know of an org that is black- or brown-led, based in PDX, and is addressing issues such as food security, housing, or immigration/legal support, we'd love to hear about how we can sponsor them!
The arts have taken a real hit in the past few years, and community is what will get us through all of this, so we're proud to be making an investment in both.
We hope that if you have the means, you'll consider sponsoring or donating to your favorite organization too. 💛
The Hollywood Theatre is a not-for-profit org that’s dear to our hearts. Not only have they preserved the historic Portland landmark that the theatre lives in, they also educate and build community through film, and provide fiscal support for local filmmakers.

Hey folks! Did you hear that we’re Business Benefactors of the Hollywood Theatre?

Hop over to our blog, where Sarah outlines a few baseline boxes to check when you’re looking for a Substack alternative. There are a lot of options out there, so get cozy with your goals to suss out which tool will serve you best.
The platform has been making bank by promoting far-right and white supremacist content. Substack leadership has since stated that they “don’t like Nazis, either” …but they’re totally fine with boosting profits by giving far-right creeps a platform.
Sarah will be getting together with Stacey Nicholls on April 30th to walk you through the full journey, from when someone sees your post to the moment they actually reach out on your website. It’s going to be a good time!

Years of riding the corporate merry-go-round – and living the ups and downs of life – helped me build the skills and resilience that I rely on every day. That, and some spicy anti-capitalist convictions, have made me the creative director/web developer/web designer/entrepreneur I am today.
1) I love solving problems
2) I’ve spent 25 years as a techie
3) I care about accessibility
4) I make cool things *without* AI
5) I believe in the power of small business
I may be a roller derby veteran, a mom to both a small human and a cat, a personal trainer who can deadlift 375lbs, and, of course, the brains behind a small marketing agency. But what exactly makes me the person you want to work with and an expert at what I do?

What do you think about Instagram's new encryption policy? Let us know in the comments below, and stay tuned for our next blog post, where we’ll review all of the recent harmful social media policy changes we’ve seen.
Experts in the space are also speculating that Instagram’s actions may lead to the slow death of data encryption altogether… which is bad news for those of us who care about privacy. Yikes!
So, if you’ve shared any sensitive information in your Instagram DMs, we highly recommend you delete those messages before May 8th–that’s when the new policy goes into effect.
That means the private conversation you had with your friend Emily about your sick cat is about to be a lot easier for hackers and bots to read. What's in it for them? They want to send you targeted ads, scams, or who knows what else. The information in your messages will be theirs for the taking.
Yet another harmful social media policy is headed down the pipeline. Next month, Instagram will no longer encrypt your direct messages (DMs).
