Shit is still fucked, and we’re still here for you.

🔔 We have some updates on regional hotlines: the Virginia hotline is no longer operational but don’t worry if you see ICE or know someone who is detained, you can call the MSMA or @casaforall.bsky.social’s hotlines instead.

"The New York Times named it a most anticipated book. Deemed a “monumental” biography by Zadie Smith and bearing witness to “his determination to leave something behind that would ultimately become our inheritance” by Lena Waithe, CityLit welcomes NICHOLAS BOGGS and his profound new work, Baldwin: A Love Story. The first major biography of iconic figure James Baldwin in over three decades brings Jimmy to life with a deeply intimate exploration of his personal and artistic relationships."

A new biography on James Baldwin? Sign me up. I need to finish my "The Fire Next Time" book ASAP, and then branch out towards his other great works.

Marsha P. Johnson, despite her role and legacy in LGBTQ+ liberation and Black Queer liberation, is still an understated figure. Hopefully, that ends at this panel with the launch of Johnson's first definitive biography.

Sinners is a good movie. A really good movie. So knowing there's a talk about the movie and its use of hoodoo is gonna be great. Plus, a fellow Terp is on the panel!

Good afternoon. Next week is the Baltimore Book Festival. For the upcoming @baltimorebeat.bsky.social calendars, I couldn't fit every event in there to keep them varied with activities and whatnot. However! I'll share some events that I will be there for.

The different covers are awesome. It's like collecting variant covers of comic books. You gotta collect 'em all (but share the different covers with your friends/family/community, please. Unless it's crab night),

This issue you’ll find four different covers capturing slices of life in Patterson Park.
