I look to third-party controllers to save money and possibly get some helpful features like Hall effect or TMR sticks. I just looked at a few sites “recommending” third-party PS5 controllers that cost nearly 200 USD. GTFOH with that affiliate link farm BS.

This is an excellent controller, regardless of its price point. The D-pad is accurate, and the sticks feel great.

GameStop should be the “monopoly we choose,” but it’s somehow the worst of all worlds. They didn’t bring Reggie on bc the C-suite wanted to play BS games w/stocks, shutter shops, & pay themselves bonuses. Instead of the go-to used game shop, they buy a DualSense at 12, sell it for 60, & hawk subs.

Without the turbo, I would not have beaten Bonk back in the day. It changed everything. I imagine it’s part of the reason for the success of shmups on that machine too.

The Series S, the Gulikit ES Pro, the SN30, and the M30. Those are the currently available D-pads I’ve been happy with. I thought the Series one would be bad, but it actually turned out to be insanely accurate, and even 360s are doable.

I have the S2 Pro, but I haven’t really used the D-pad much.

The d-pad is in the primary position, but mine is unusable. It hits false diagonals way too easily. There’s no pivot. The sticks are great, though. Careful with the buttons. Some folks have had theirs crack, maybe with a lot of swapping.

Somehow or other, it seems like every time I try out another Japanese book in translation, I see the name Jesse Kirkwood. Good on them.

It’s still early, but my first impression of WWE 2K24 is that it’s nowhere near as much fun as AEW: Fight Forever. It’s prettier and flashier, but it’s just not as interesting in its moment to moment action. It feels more like watching than playing most times.

They could just make the armadillo blue and rebadge the game as Sonic Team Racing, and I’d be very happy.
