A Stage for the Nation | Campaign for the Arts The UK Government is reviewing the purposes and funding of the BBC. It's vital that they consider the arts and culture, and the unique role that the BBC plays

But especially given the systemic pressures on its funding model, the BBC’s own future must now be secured with ambition and principle from the UK Government.

No government that wants to grow the creative industries, break down barriers to opportunity, or build a more socially cohesive country with an inclusive national story, can afford to see the BBC diminished. It is an essential ingredient in the UK’s future.

We’re entering the final hours of the government’s consultation on the future of the BBC (deadline = 23:59).

Far more than just a broadcaster, the BBC is a cultural organisation with a unique role in our creative ecology and shared national life.
