His legacy extends so far for a man who was born and died in the same rural community, who worked in a field most people look down upon, who had only a small family and hated to socialize... Accept this as a lesson that your impact can be great even if you think your life is small.β€οΈβπ©Ή #grief is weird.
I know my dad was special, I know that he was the most caring and wonderful parent who supported me and my brother with every ounce of his being. But it still floors me to hear how impactful he was on... So. Many. People. He was a mentor to 3 generations of young men.
The call was from a younger sounding man. He was calling looking for a job reference. My mom told him my dad had passed, and this young man sounded devastated. He spouted off so many complimentary and positive things about a guy who he probably hadn't even seen in over 5 years...
My dad died last year. He worked in the same industry for almost 50 years before he retired in 2020. Most people know he passed, as the people at his last mill knew and word spread pretty quickly. I was at my mom's last night and she got a weird call. I could hear bits but not everything... π§΅
A planner page with black, white, and purple washi tape, panda, and tarot card stickers with the quotes: "Haste to disgrace the traitor, do not wait til later" and "all I want is some earth and seed to only grow the things I need."
This lyric won't leave my brain this week (wonder why?). 2025 Song Lyrics of the week are π₯
Haste to disgrace a traitor; do not wait βtil later.
I am finally conquering Babel after loving BOBH so much π€
Of these, I have only read Blood Over Bright Haven but I highly recommend it. Dark, addictive, fascinating.
I love them, and I love Wendell Bambleby way too much.
Image of 4 book covers (Ink Blood Sister Scribe, Emily Wilde's Map of the Otherlands, Iron Flame, and Blood Over Bright Haven) under the heading "January" depicting books read in January.
A calendar depicting the start and end dates of books read in January and the ratings of the books. Blood Over Bright Haven Haven 4.5 β, Iron Flame 3.5 β, Emily Wilde's Map of the Otherlands 4.5 β, Ink Blood Sister Scribe 4 β.
Solid start to my 50 books in 2025 goal in January. 4 books down, 46 to go! I highly recommend Blood Over Bright Haven, and feel like our current leaders could learn a lot from the messages re: privilege, othering, unlearning, finding common ground...

An open planner, with song lyrics written at the bottom of the page that say "The problem is not that I am too left wing for my own good. It's that it's not that hard losing empathy. Sometimes all it takes is a conversation over coffee to break the spell of being pacified and lazy."
Yeah, this checks out, featuring lyrics from Armchair Anarchism by Not Half Bad

A zoomed in photo of a paper planner with two days of plans whited out, looking messy and disorganized.
Throw the whole thing away. The planner. The week. Let's start over on February 3.
A picture of a planner, open to last week, decorated with stickers of bunnies and mushrooms, and including a song lyrics that states "let the masses support all the hate that you spit. Keep a mouth full of shit and see your smile out of town."
I feel like this year's Song Lyrics of the Week are only going to get angrier and angrier. (Woe is me.)

itβs wildly irresponsible for mainstream media to call romantasy books βsmutβ or βp*rnβ in out-of-context headlines during an era of increasing book bans and purity culture hysteria.
this mischaracterization and willful ignorance of an entire genre is how you normalize book bans.
To quote Agnes from Emily Wilde's Map of the Otherlands... "Very idiot."
Pneumonia Day 7(?): My voice lasted until 10:30 AM. And I thought the 2 PM yesterday was bad. (I'm tired.)
Grampa Simpson: MY ELON IS NOT A NAZI HE MAY BE A LIAR, AN IDIOT, A PEDOPHILE, A NAZI BUT HE IS NOT Γ PORN STAR!
This quote felt fitting today.
Weird that we have to say this, but the government doesnβt get to decide what gender a person is.
Shouldn't this post say that this blatantly goes against the 14th Amendment of the Constitution? It's concerning that the concept of fact checking is out the window... Like the point of journalism isn't to just repeat what people say.
Essentially what is happening today...
My planner is usually colorful and stickered and fun, but something was off this week. Well, turns out I had pneumonia and pushing through was not making me any better lol

Yes. And I'm going to miss the communities I built, but at some point, it's just not worth it anymore. I already cut back on all social media a lot in the last year by reading instead of doom scrolling... Here's to cutting back more and building new communities.
One more day of something resembling sanity, then our poor country will be ruled by Team Rocket. First up, denouncing the evils of truth and love.
