Great for putting a gradient on! This is why I love a redemptor Dreadnaught. Is the gold on the red free hand?
Very nice! Love a howling griffin. It is a really great model, but simple as you say. I actually prefer my marines uncomplicated to let my painting show. Lots of wide open armour panels is perfect for me.
I figured since the new 40k edition is out, painting just 4 models out of the last one is a pretty poor return so I'm painting the terminator captain. I finished his power sword tonight. #nerdlings #warhammercommunity
Me neither. Everyone has a go at the pots.. look after them and they are fine. Also, people rave about this range or that.. I try them and find it's much of a muchness. I have the odd paint from other ranges but 99% citadel.
I buy citadel paints because I can't be arsed to work out the colour conversions to other ranges. So maybe they've hit the nail on the head.
I think that people who have been in the hobby for years forget that we aren’t GWs core market. We buy other brands, proxy’s and print our own as much as GW. GW is aiming at that newcomer demographic before they become us. If clarity helps them then fine. Although bring back marauder miniatures..
This bit in the From Russia With Love game made me laugh out loud. You've got a fairly grounded, low key fight based on the one in the movie, then the most video game looking fucker of all time slides into frame.
Thanks!

FINISHED! Suboden Khan off the White Scars. This is a fantastic model, one of the best releases last year (after Logan Grimnar). I picked him up to paint as a one off for my display case. Really lovely to paint.. although I realise I detest painting white. #nerdlings #Warhammercommunity

Finished the jet bike for Suboden Khan. I'll be cracking on with the man himself tomorrow. #Warhammercommunity #nerdlings

Cheers!
Each shade or highlight I'm glazing over the the previous in very thin layers to get a nice gradation.
Yeah sure, I did a full chapter of space marines in bone coloured armoured.. It is my speciality.. it's ushabi bone base then shaded with zandri dust, then skragg brown, then mournfang brown. I then highlight with screaming skull and then white scar.
Now that's a film id watch!
Its nonsensical.. but I like to think of my wolves as being Scottish, lol.
Haha, it did occur to me that he looks a bit teary. It was meant to be distinguished streaks of grey.. but why not. Space Wolves are humans too and are confident enough to not be scared of showing their emotions.
They are sooo good. I paint Dark Angels usually but had to get this three! Just for the display case.
I meant calgar blue..
In the end I put a very thin glaze of talassar blue over the whole thing.. I'm not convinced by that though.
Yes of course. I used a macragge blue base which I shade with Kantor blue and then nighlords blue.. maybe even then a bit of black in the nightlord. Then I highlight with caller blue, Alaitoc blue and then fenrisian grey.

Finished! Completed painting Arjac Rockfist. I'm planning to paint Logan Grimnar and Njall Stormcaller as well as I think these three Space Wolves characters were the best releases from GW this year. First one down and the first finished model for me in 2026. #nerdlings #Warhammercommunity
I finished these guys a few weeks ago but only just got decent pictures. A squad of guardians from the Alaitoc craftworld. I always wanted an Alaitoc army since they were profiled in a white dwarf in 1991. So here we go.. it's a start. #nerdlings #Warhammercommunity

More WIP of my Arjac. The face has come out really well. I think probably the happiest I've been with the eyes on anything I've painted. He's getting there now. Should finish tomorrow. #nerdlings #warhammercommunity

Arjac! Part painted space wolf character
WIP of Arjac. I decided I wanted to paint the three space wolf named characters released in 2025. They are magnificent models. I started on Arjac. I've blocked in the main colours and have highlighted and shaded the blue. #nerdlings #warhammercommunity
Thanks! I was planning to use those colours.. I mean they literally have space wolves names. I wasn't convinced they would be quite that vibrant. I might try a quick test model first.
These all look great! What blue paint are you using for the space wolf. I'm doing a few of the new characters imminently and that's just the blue shade I'm after.

My #artvsartist post for 2025. Another year with a mix of space marine minis and some spinoff games. #nerdlings #warhammercommunity
