Positively UK is supporting @nat.org.uk's petition demanding access to lenacapvir on the NHS. This amazing new treatment will save lives: it must urgently be secured and made available on the NHS to those who need it. Find the petition at our Link in Bio.

"Everybody in the UK, regardless of their immigration status, must be able to access the HIV medicine they need, including throughout the full process of any asylum claims."

Brilliant work by @nat.org.uk. Unfortunately stories like this are far too common for people living with HIV. HIV stigma is still so rife in our society. For every person who has the courage to challenge it, there are many more who stay quiet because of fear and isolation. Keep up the great work!
It is appalling that a serving police officer was discriminated against and placed on restricted duty because of their #HIV status.
National AIDS Trust's discrimination service provided support on this case to challenge the unfair and discriminatory behaviour of Gwent Police.
We have made an animation, to show how the 'No Recourse to Public Funds' immigration condition, has harmed our families:

Good morning from Chelmsford, Essex, where people living with #HIV are finding advice and support from someone who's really been there before. Positively UK is now part of the team at eight different clinics across the East of England! Retweet (or re-bluesky? repost?) to help us spread the word.
Thank you @ramfel.bsky.social for commissioning and publishing this vital report. All too often the media paints an impression that asylum hotels offer some sort of luxury. This report exposes the shameful truth.
Our August newsletter is out! Read all about what we've been up to and what we have coming up 💚🍏💚 conta.cc/4lsuqYq
🧑🏼🍳 Kitchen Magic ✨
Behind every delicious plate at The Food Chain is a team of volunteers keeping the kitchen buzzing 🍽️✨
Thank you to everyone who’s donned an apron, stirred a pot, and served up care on a plate. We appreciate you!

London Trans Pride sees record-breaking turnout of 100,000 people
"This is now the largest Trans Pride event in history, in the world"
BREAKING: Attendance at Trans Pride London today has been estimated at more than 100,000!
If you didn’t already think they’re coming for all of us…
Anti trans activists have just won a case against the Police because they marched at Northern Pride.
They objected because it implied support for ‘trans rights’ - bad enough in itself but also, it’s not hard to see how this will develop.
26 HIV orgs, incl. The Food Chain, call for the EHRC’s draft guidance to be withdrawn. It will worsen stigma + exclusion in HIV care.
Trans people have always been central to this work — and always will be.

A white panel has been pinned over a panel of the quilt. There is a note attached which reads: This panel was made by a friend for a friend. The parents do not want this panel to be shown anywhere. The stigma still exists. Until this changes this panel will remain covered. A red ribbon is not enough. The quilt is not enough. What will it take? Attitudes must change.
One of the most moving panels in the UK AIDS Memorial Quilt is the one that no-one sees.
It remains covered up because the parents of the person who died are ashamed.
HIV stigma creates barriers to testing and treatment.
It perpetuates the epidemic.

People living with #HIV should have equal access to services - the experience of @jasonreiduk.bsky.social shows that stigmatising practice still exists and must be challenged: “I had this horrid feeling that I’m not equal to other people.”

A beautiful piece by Charlie on the UK Aids Memorial Quilt, which he was able to bring to Tate Modern.
The most moving thing I think I've ever seen there.
Prides in London, Brighton, Manchester and Birmingham suspend political party participation in their Pride events.
‘We will not stand by as the dignity, safety, and humanity of our trans siblings are debated, delayed, or denied.’

2025: Keir Starmer suggests that pressure on housing and public services is because of migrants
2020: Keir Starmer, "Poor housing, poor public services are not the fault of the migrants, they're political failure"
How nice to be told by Keir Starmer that my mother who delivered babies, as a midwife, worked nights and damaged her back lifting patients as a nurse, was a pillar of her community as a health visitor has caused “incalculable damage” to the UK !
Starmer's anti-immigrant speech today wasn't just a moral and political embarrassment. It was also an intellectual embarrassment.

Thinking about fed employees, scientists, & anyone resisting, I am reminded of the words of Jonathan Mann speaking about the AIDS response: "Our responsibility is historic...our most precious contribution may well be that at a time of plague we did not flee; we did not hide; & we did not separate"

Excellent overview of the challenges we face in trying to achieve zero #HIV transmissions by 2030, the greatest of which is HIV-related #stigma. Better understanding of #PrEP, current HIV treatment and #UequalsU is essential in turning the tide!
