Hi Simon, this hurts my brain. Do you think it’s a good idea?

Dale Vince using his wealth to keep the UK dependent on gas, but gas from his company. Most of his wealth came from government subsidies from both wind farms and then EV charging.
Wearing a neckerchief and having floppy hair doesn’t mean he’s not out to screw you or the environment.
I’d disagree and would say the technology has been available for 5 years, and that Spain hasn’t invested in it. Spanish physical geography isn’t the issue, on that motorway I mentioned I can see literally tens of thousands of wind turbines and more solar. The energy is already there.
That’s true, but a country with unlimited renewable resources importing oil for something as simple as transportation is sad. You still need chargers on rural motorways even if most people live in cities. Between Zaragoza and Valencia there is just one charging station with multiple bays.
I’m in Spain a lot with my EV, compared to the UK there is a lot of work to do with their charging network. They need to think solar / battery / chargers in some areas.
I’m hoping that the transmission issues on Dogger Bank are sorted soon, there is over a GW of wind turbines just sat there doing nothing at the moment.
I’m an ex-grid engineer in the UK. The grid loves EVs. 88% of car charging in the UK is still done at night when the grid we spent a lot of money on is doing next to nothing. For us it’s like renting out an office meeting room at night, all extra profit baby!
Oh yes, the goats will eat the grass, then the panels, finally any concrete bases 😂
More panels, then GOATS 🐐 🤩
Look how much healthier the grass is under the panels….
The rapid and ultra rapid charging in the UK is about 2 years ahead of demand. The infrastructure is excellent, the cost to charge is the issue.
Anyone who regularly fills at DC chargers should and do look for subscriptions. Tesla / Ionity bring the peak time cost closer to 40p kWh or down to 25p kWh off peak.
The solution is to not provide new auction sites in the North, which can barely be used and then pay us out twice. They need a solar roof over Heathrow’s runways 🥴
The “sell” is that SMR can be built in factories like mass production cars. It’s a lie.
You don’t want that one as you already have 3 versions on cassette, 2 on vinyl, 6 on CD and a subscription on streaming
There is a reason why we build nuclear big, economies of scale.
Honda is a gonner for cars, luckily they make lots of other things.
Possibly there is a mental block in Japan. They have two electric grid networks on a smallish piece of land, both are shit and incompatible, their generation is a mess and every time they improve it, Godzilla comes and fucks it up.
Not so much here. The energy lands in Yorkshire, which traditionally had 25% to 40% of all the UKs coal power stations by output. All the coal has gone, but Drax still burns gas / wood, and a few smaller stations burn gas, but the ‘highway to the danger zone’ (London) is ok.
You must be American. Try looking outside of America for the technology that already exists.
However, an unhinged engineer such as me can also rig your brake pedal to accelerate at full speed. Just sayin
This is the way
All the EV Trucks out in the real world in Europe get 1km per KWh
Bloody glass, aluminium, silver and silicon (sand), how the hell are we going to get rid of that toxic muck?
Orban conceding defeat after only 30% of then vote was counted wasn’t on anyone’s bingo card
By the time the £multi-billion IT project needed actually worked we’ll all be using flux-capacitors for energy. That’s why it was binned
@worldbollardassoc.bsky.social this little dude took out a bus!
The definition of “only hurting yourself”
1. It’s not going to drop 75% at the end of year 4.
2. Yorkshire for example lands or produces almost as much renewables as Scotland, and 8.1GW is expected to come online from Dogger Bank alone. In addition Yorkshire has the biggest power station in the UK.
It would be lovely to see the expected trajectory of that decline. I’ve looked but couldn’t find one.
