Get in Trouble by Kelly Link.
So not only do I have to make more room on my favorite stories shelf but also have to keep the stories-within-stories straight as well - thanks @kellylink.bsky.social for more timeless troublesome fun. (I know this is an older one but it's gold.)

The seventh story in Saros #5, "Walk with the Angels" by @awritingwren.bsky.social, is a wonderfully (and/or horribly) rich sensory experience. I am absolutely in love with the way this story mingles the sublime and the grotesque through its fascinatingly awful imagery and poignant sense of longing.

Today in tilting at windmills, I’m taking another run at the novelette/novella/whatever that I’ve started then abandoned three times now.

Movie poster for Deathstalker (2026)
The Deathstalker remake’s version of GGG is gory, goopy, and goofy. It’s a fun tongue-planted-firmly-in-cheek watch, and hang out for the closing credits for some period-accurate 80s power metal.

Cover of issue 10 of Nightmare Abbey featuring luris, pulpy colours and a large spider and dilapidated house, plus list of contributors.
Preview of my story "The Grinning Woman" with black and white art of a woman rising from a lake.
What's this? Another new story just published. "The Grinning Woman" appears in Nightmare Abbey #10 among a stellar ToC.

I just noticed that there’s—appropriately enough—a typo in this comment.

The fact that he’s referring to Roy Cohn only lends this additional resonance.

Lately, I can’t stop thinking about Belize’s monologue from Angels in America, the one that includes the line “…I’ll show you America. Terminal, crazy, and mean.” This is why.

Deciding which books I’m going to take on a trip is a complex process that starts at least a week in advance and will involve numerous twists and reversals. High drama folks, high drama.

It's a little heartbreaking that Locus is down to the wire here. Locus is so important to the SFF community. If you can chip in, please do. @locusmag.bsky.social

Awning for Maryland Stamps & Coins, est. 1974
I’m neither a stamp guy nor a coin guy, but I love that this nerdy little business has been a going concern for 50+ years.

Emerging from three weeks of the worst flu I have ever had to continue singing the praises of the stories in the Sound/Silence issue of Saros SF. The linguist in me cannot get enough of @yasmeenfahmy.bsky.social's work, and I hope to see her stories in many, many magazines in the years to come!
