Been trying to build a DIY speaker. "How hard could it be?"
Hard.
Managed to get something sounding halfway decent, after throwing an ADAU1701 at it and rebuilding the shell several times. Spend about 4x the cost of a comparable sounding speaker though, and it still needs work.

The author DOES use LLMs though, they cover it in their blog (as others have posted it already). Mostly just wanted to clear this specific one up.
I've also been evaluating this one, ran across this post in the process and felt it's worth just covering this specific one:
Maxmind' GeoIP database is basically the industry standard. I think their AI stuff is part of their trust products. GeoLite is basically just a csv file.
It's pretty crazy how logitech made these things in 2006 and yet the whole product line is still basically the best things on the market for their use case.
I've been exploring making a modern SB Radio replacement as well, but the stock one already sounds surprisingly good.
Still kinda iffy on FreeCAD's sketch tool compared to fusion, but making things with it.
Here's a replacement dock for the squeezebox controller you surely still have.

After over 60+ hours of Demonschool QA, this soundtrack haunts me even when I close my eyes to sleep (complimentary)
This week in "Cursed objects I've brought into this world": A Compaq portable from the 90s with PS5 guts courtesy of a crypto mining card.
This was a good chance to learn FreeCAD. Lots of little 3d printed brackets. A non-trivial amount of hot glue. A lot of wiring.
Now it can finally play quake.

Was just thinking I should let my landlord know I'm moving soon, only to find an email from him in my inbox today... about raising my rent again.
"program database file has an obsolete format, delete it and recompile"
This just compiled a few minutes ago. No updates have installed, VS hasn't even been restarted.
Realizing LD is tomorrow and I forgot to actually... assemble a team.
Somehow managed to find an artist but I guess it'll be public domain music again.

Woke up to two loud bangs and the breaker blowing.
It seems the "cheapest modular SFX Power supply on amazon" was not built very well. Who could have guessed!
Why spend pennies on fuses when breakers exist?
The best part is that the computer wasn't even on, just sitting in sleep mode.
I don't want to think about how the compiler resolves this abomination but it sure is convenient!
It has been zero days...
Spent the last day trying to figure out why my SASL code wasn't producing correct outputs.
Turns out my HMAC signature for the client key was "Client key" but it's supposed to be "Client Key".
Today in "How did this ever work?!"
A decades old psql implementation for Haxe which is little endian. psql protocol has only ever supported big endian.
The author claims it worked and there are other users filing bugs that similarly imply it worked.
