Started a Morrowind playthrough, it's so cosy

I'm sure Blizzard are planning their own Classic Plus, and hopefully it'll be good... but I'm skeptical that the content they design will revolve around cosy leveling and more so the raid-logging culture Blizz's Classic has. Nor do I expect any moderation alas!

I’m not claiming private servers are the pinnacle of virtue, but cheering on the fact if players want to play vanilla, they’ll have to go back to the unmoderated landscape that is Classic Anniversary? Yeah no.

At which point the gold seller would get instantly banned. Anecdotally, I don’t recall running into any bots out in the world either while on Classic WoW it was obvious due to the sheer number of them.

Whereas in my experience on Turtle WoW, any time politics was brought up in a chat channel, GMs would immediately intervene and force people to change the topic, and throw out mutes if they didn’t. If people were selling gold, people would spam ‘moo’ (yes, really) to get the GMs attention

I saw people named after the Columbine shooters not get their names changed after several reports, casual toxicity and outright anti-LGBT sentiment racism in public channels. At one point, world chat was talking about how they’d wish Hitler would return i “save Europe”.

I played 2019 Classic and got to see it taken over by bots and goldbuyers and then I got to see Classic Anniversary get taken other again by bots and goldbuyers and with a new addition: neo-nazis. WoW has always been poor with it but retail seems to have evened out, but Anniversary was the worst.

I’ve played Turtle WoW very on and off over the past few years (had a 60 on there since pre High Elf starter zone days) and what started as a way to run around as a high elf or play a undead hunter in vanilla ended up being the only option for me to play vanilla at all

Breaching my no WoW talk rule to ramble about Turtle WoW. I find the corporate bootlicking around the recent verdict kinda gross/weird? What they were doing was certainly infringement, but the amount of gloating I’ve seen around it has just been weird

Loving the attention DQ is getting and Octopath is one of my favourite series of all time, but I really wish Square would give some of the older FFs a DQ3 2.5D treatment rather than just the Pixel Remasters

Random observation, but the save bonus stuff in Adventures of Elliot just really highlight to me how Square don't seem to be doing anything with Final Fantasy compared to their other IPs

Started replaying Mass Effect for the first time in forever. I spent ages in character customisation! Literally hours were spent on picking each and every slider!

The classics are super accessible either through emulation, being re-released or remade and we also have new IPs like Octopath and Metaphor. I'll count Clair Obscur too even if it's not technically a JRPG. All I need now is a DQ8 remaster and my soul is Square's...
