Looking forward to four days of science and socials π©π»βπ¬π¦
Are they doing away with external peer review? Only scrutiny by the boards, shortlisting, and then interview?

π£ NEW! Iβve just released the BIGGEST and perhaps most creative project Iβve ever worked on!
βSearching for Birdsβ searchingforbirds.visualcinnamon.com π€
A project, an article, an exploration that dives into the data that connects humans with birds, by looking at how we search for birds.
As an editor, my concern would be responding to feedback requests from reviewers if I didn't rate their review as high enough quality to earn the reward points.
Interesting new peer review reward system just launched by JMIR Publications. A points-based system which can be exchanged for publishing services, in recognition of quality peer review- emphasis on quality, with detailed instructions for achieving this. support.jmir.org/hc/en-us/art...
Abstract outcomes are due this week π€
Let me know how you get on, and if it's worth my investing in a pedicure.
Rich benefactor PI as co-supervisor? Failing that, OnlyFans (she says, only half joking).
Would you not just write it into a grant which covers the experiments, but doesn't ask for staff costs, stating that your employer will fund the fees and stipend of a PhD student who will deliver the work in the grant? It would be part of the institutional support spiel.

This is what happens when you chose to publish with @microbiologysociety.org. You are building the future of microbiology and giving a start to some incredible new scientists.
Nothing new for him it seems
@microbiologysociety.org have been at this for a while on their innovative Open Research Platform, Access Microbiology. If you like the sounds of this, but your work isn't quite Nature level, send it to Access Microbiology www.microbiologyresearch.org/content/jour...

Conferences with your friends are some of the best bits of the job. The job is not easy, but how very lucky to have such strong and opinionated women as my peers to conspire and collaborate with
A small train seat table with reading material and a healthy lunch of salad and fruit for the journey
En route to StaphGBI conference π Deeply regretting my lunch choices and lack of Greggs sausage roll π
Try a Teams call right to work check with passport to get paid for running labs for a different department within the same university. The Teams call became a in-person attendance at the departments HR the year after. Nope, you're going to need someone else to teach this lab.
Cheers to submitting my first major grant as a PI. Reviewers be kind...
Happy to have a quick look at it @aharms485.bsky.social to see if its suitable for Access Microbiology.
You are also at an institution which is signed up to fee free open access publishing with Microbiology Society journals, so you won't pay APCs either! microbiologysociety.org/institutiona...
