had a crazy week but here's a screen recording of a new addition to the main menu (in BlueSuburbia)... a little easter egg that will take you to another world where you can stay forever.

yes you really should talk about it! i know SO many devs that struggle balancing family, work, and dev… i know it would be appreciated. i’d love to hear it.
it sounds like you’d have valuable insights for sure.
i do love it tho when gamedevs write about games. the observations are always so thoughtful. imo nobody know games as intimately.
been getting invited [a lot] to do writing about games [paid too]. i think the universe is trying to tell me something 🤔

Seems like “anonymous game collective drops a batch of experimental games multiple times a year” would be a fun thing for people to write about tbh. I mean, i have, but other folks should maybe do it too
Finally sat down to play this today. Really beautiful game about finding peace in a history of suffering. There’s a section near the end where the player is swarmed by violent messages that awoke such unpleasant memories. I think a lot about my scars of Online Life, the spiritual cost.

I'm always so scared to listen back to my talks
only to always discover I'm so shyly charming and cute to listen to, and somehow always end up re-learning something nice too

Fun to see Game Poems covered in this month's Edge!
Did I mention we've got an ongoing open call for Issue 2? Make a game poem today! www.gamepoems.com/submit
Once again, if anyone wants to pay me to do cool things with writing (or to keep a spooky lighthouse) let me know because journalism is going out of its way to persuade me to never come back.
a screenshot of a long winding brutalist staircase. there is a poem written on the wall. light comes through the windows. paint splats are on the stairs.
a screenshot of a tree that looks like a human bowing. the tree is large and covered in dandelion whisps. there is a poem at the base of the screen.
a screenshot looking up at old brutalist buildings. the buildings are abandoned.
a screenshot of a desert filled with dead trees. the dead trees almost look human. there is a poem at the base of the screen.
🌼My new game is here!🥀

I might not have ever made I Get This Call Every Day if it weren't for the Ludum Dare.
A functioning games industry, a healthy games community, wouldn't have allowed things to get this bad.
I dunno about y'all but I'm fairly sure we were sold out. Everybody involved needs to be held accountable for this, and the data centers need to be held not just to the same, but to higher environmental standards.

i wish steam had an option of PWYW with the option of free. it would honestly be a game changer.

i’m sure yes! i so hope hope hope this becomes popular enough of an event that they keep doing it regularly. there’s so much work that fits, this barely scratches the surface. it’s basically a whole genre without proper spotlight (or label lol). it would be great if it takes off as a regular thing!
yes! they did an amazing job with it. the dithering over everything mixed with the photo/3d look is 👌
if any of you want to help by sharing this or telling friends about it, that would be wonderful.
because so many devs are participating it’s a beautiful collection of games featuring the theme of fictional OS. it’s inspiring to see all in one place.
maybe some of you will find something you love! 💕
The "interfaceX.net" graphic showing an old computer with the website url. keychains of old school computer iconography surround it. it is very nostalgic.
InterfaceX26 starts today! a Steam event of games featuring fake and fictional OS. "Everything is going to be ok" is part of it.

yes, it inspires people and helps them to really understand the context… as well as get them curious to look at it all later. if people can walk away from a talk inspired to participate in a space (make things, play things), then that’s a huge win!
i’m regularly reminded how important (meaningful, good…) it is to mention games in talks, to illustrate what you mean. people do check them out and find new things! like i can’t count the amount of times i’ve used “he fucked the girl out of me” as an example of meaningful game design.
i dont know if everything is going to be ok in Everything is going to be OK by @alienmelon.bsky.social, a desktop labyrinth of vignettes and broken digital spaces
yes it’s very interesting. it’s amazing to have this as an example.
