The DeSantis Administration is targeting @aidshealthcare.bsky.social after they fought to protect lifesaving HIV medication for 10,000+ Floridians.
This isn't about public health — it's retaliation.

Artemis II was called a “textbook mission” by scientists — a historic success made possible by leaders like Amy Lendian. Amy served as the Systems Engineer Manager for Artemis II, helping oversee the rocket and mission that carried humans around the moon and back. She’s also a transgender woman who lived in Florida most of her life and worked at Kennedy Space Center. Last year, Amy and her wife made the difficult decision to leave the state after a wave of anti-trans laws made them feel unsafe. “Lendian had been a fire suppression systems engineer who landed at Florida’s Kennedy Space Center in 2020. But last year, she and Barela, both trans women, moved to Chicago amid a rash of anti-trans laws that made them feel unsafe. With the launch taking place the same week as Transgender Day of Visibility, she said it was ‘a big deal.’ ‘All my trans siblings can do whatever they want to and be a part of something important like this,’ Lendian said.” Congratulations to Amy! Her leadership, brilliance, and contributions are helping shape the future of space exploration. #TransJoy #TransExcellence

Picture of Nancy Metayer with the text: "Honoring the Memory and Legacy of Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer"
We are devastated by the heartbreaking news about Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer Bowen. It’s hard to put into words the weight of this loss. To so many of us, Nancy felt like part of the Equality Florida team. She was a true generational leader, and she will be deeply missed. Rest in Power, Nancy.
Gotta read the whole thread lol

We never deleted that post. It’s still there.
Sorry for the clickbait, diva.
Mainly to remind you that we will always fight for a Florida where trans, nonbinary, and intersex people can live safely and access the necessary care for the best quality of life.
The reason for deleting this post was simple:
When an organization like ours deletes a post and publishes a serious looking statement, they usually get attention.
We wanted some of that attention too...
This was the deleted post:
Equality Florida statement regarding a recently deleted post:
After careful consideration, we decided to delete one of our Instagram posts after public outcry… 🧵
Equality Florida is working closely with national and legal partners to further assess the impacts of the decision and will provide updates as we have them.
But let’s be clear: no court decision changes the facts. Conversion therapy is dangerous. It has no place in our communities, and especially not in the lives of vulnerable young people.
Today’s disappointing ruling does not impact Florida law, as the Eleventh Circuit previously struck down protections against conversion therapy in the state.
Every major medical and mental health organization agrees: conversion therapy is harmful, discredited, and puts young people at serious risk.
The case has been sent back to the lower court.
The Court did not weigh in on whether conversion therapy is safe or ethical. That question has already been answered.
Today, the U.S. Supreme Court issued an 8–1 decision in Chiles v. Salazar, weakening Colorado’s law protecting kids from conversion therapy. The Court ruled Colorado’s conversion therapy ban likely violates the first amendment, but leaves malpractice and other legal claims intact.

Equality Florida will continue working alongside partners to ensure ADAP is properly funded and Floridians living with HIV have the care they need to thrive.

We are deeply grateful to the HIV advocates and providers who worked tirelessly to raise the alarm and to the bipartisan group of lawmakers who acted quickly to secure this stopgap funding, ensure access to care, and protect public health for all Floridians.
Lawmakers must follow through with long-term funding in the state budget to ensure that this does not become a public health crisis once again.
BREAKING: Emergency funding to restore HIV care for over 10,000 Floridians through ADAP was signed into law today, following a fight against harmful cuts that put lives at risk. This is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when people refuse to stay silent. But let’s be clear, the fight isn’t over
And as we’ve done before, we will fight to limit the impact of this law every step of the way, including potentially in the courts.
None of these victories happened by accident. They happened because of the people power YOU brought to this fight.

But it did not pass quietly or easily. The bill faced bipartisan opposition from local elected officials, lawmakers, and the public — forcing dozens of carve-outs, including protections for the Pulse Memorial in Orlando and the continued permitting of Pride festivals. (3/4)
We won’t sugarcoat the fact that one dangerous bill did pass after a two-year fight — “Anti-Diversity in Local Government.” This sweeping legislation attempts to undermine how cities and counties celebrate and support the diverse communities they serve, particularly LGBTQ Floridians. (2/4)
Because of relentless people power, we stopped/neutralized FOUR out of FIVE anti-LGBTQ bills in FL. We also helped secure crucial stopgap funding to protect ADAP, alongside our partners and HIV advocates, restoring access to HIV care for 10,000+ people!

For twelve years, the @equalityfl.bsky.social All Together Now Conference has brought together education leaders who refuse to look away when students need support. At a moment when leaders feel pressure to step back, this conference ensures that they stand strong in their values and commitments.
We were thrilled to have @rweingarten.bsky.social, President of @aft.org, deliver the keynote remarks at our 12th Annual All Together Now Conference, who reminded our education leaders in Florida that they’re not alone. Educators across the country are standing in solidarity with them.
We recently hosted the 12th Annual All Together Now Conference — the only statewide gathering dedicated to supporting LGBTQ students, educators, and their families in Florida.
