It’s crazy how different it is between Morrowind and Skyrim though. In Morrowind the race elements are part of a thoughtful story about colonialism, in Skyrim racism is more or less just a way to make the Stormcloaks not obviously morally superior to the imperials.

I’ve been playing Crimson Desert and it’s been kind of a relief that there’s different races but no visible racism. Trolls are over-represented in academia, but no one has stopped to be like “there are so many troll at the Academy because they heave historically been excluded from labor markets.”
Feels like a very 2000s/2010s phenomena where people’s main criteria for good fantasy world building was “How much racism is there and how well-explained is it?”
