I read it probably too young and it was traumatizing but I don't regret that it was one of the formative books of my childhood.

And I love that nothing about her life fits the mold of "biblical womanhood." Not a wife. Not a mother. Not "captivating." Just faithful.

I try to sneak a book into the kids' Easter baskets every year, and this year I felt like my 10yo was old enough for the graphic novelization of "The Hiding Place." So many Christian "heroes" from my childhood have turned out to be sketchy, but Corrie Ten Boom still holds up.
