Looking at the calendar…it is also time to start planning for my annual once-a-year comm openings LOL oh dear there is actually much to be done!

(One thing I did learn from all this is that I really love to make stickers!!!! And I want to dabble in charms/standees too…so mayhaps!!!)

Some unsolicited lore but my big dream when I was 14 was to table one day…and every year I just never sought out the opportunity until now, where I’m finally able to put that dream to rest.

I spent the last few months focusing on it, so now that I’ve wrapped it up…what shall my next project be…🤔

Thanks End! For sure I def just wanted to get a sense of what it was like and was warned beforehand that profits aren’t great. I don’t normally interact w my art outside of soc med and talking to ppl helped me form a stronger perception of myself as an artist 😭 So mission accomplished I’d say!

Aw gosh I remember you haha tysm for your purchase! I’m really happy that my prints are now in a new home with someone who will cherish them. I didn’t realize how separate the Blue Room was yah I had a few people comment on how they almost missed me as a result (I felt the main hall would’ve been-

And I do have some leftover FFXIV prints and postcards so I will bring them to FanFest this week (!!!) for trade!

Overall I don’t think I would try to table regularly but maybe 1-2x a year would be nice! And ideally at larger fan conventions next time (though I’d definitely have to split a table with someone…how does that work…)

-online for sure. But not as much as Estinien or Lucina I think so there’s obv not a linear correlation

-And of course…my original prints didn’t sell at all LOL it’s expected but I’m a lil sad haha! No one wanted my yuri healer/knight print?? Personally I really like that drawing

-My most popular drawing to date is last year’s Estinien, which had a lot of requests for print/storefront options but it hardly sold at all. I thought Lucina would also sell well but she did not

-The Byleth and Emet miniprints as well as my Themis postcard sold the most, and they all did well-

In terms of which print sold well, I think it’s a tad hard to judge with the nature of this convention but the prints I expected to sell based on online popularity…did not do as expected haha but it’s not exactly a reverse correlation…

So I don’t feel too shaken in regards to skill or quality, and I appreciate a lot of the support I received for tabling again in the future

-had pretty limited marketing so not that many people showed up in general until the second day
-Event itself not really geared specifically for fandom’ art, and because it was free admission, the audience consisted of people including families and small kids

The table was $125 and my prints in total cost about $161 for total of $286 in costs - this weekend I made about $216 so
did not break even, but I made more than expected so I’m content 😊 I think there are factors to consider including:
-I was intentionally in one of the side rooms
-The event-

Finished the final day of tabling! Overall thoughts from a first-time tabler…

I think in general it was fun - people were excited to see my prints and I really enjoyed talking about my art and the characters to people. However, since it wasn’t that busy, most of the time was…/dreadfully/ boring 😭

Its not a hot take but man the way the word "content" is used these days. A vile bit of late stage capitalist propaganda, lumping all forms of human creativity and expression into a single wastebin teaching the public to treat all art as disposable.

Oohh I’ve never heard of them, I’ll check it out! But maybe! I wanted to just try tabling once and am unsure if I’ll do it again in the future, but maybe if I can bring some more merch types to my inventory like sticker sheets and even charms :3

Yes I had some people from the Yellow Room mention it was very slow for them as well, and I felt like it wasn’t as packed in the main hall as expected either 😭 But that is ok! Let’s see what tomorrow brings ^_^

Ohhh hello!! Thank you so much for buying my prints, I’m happy that they have a new home and someone who will cherish them :) I think FFXIV is probably a tad out of place at BICS but alas it is all I have 😆 I enjoy drawing it too much…

The amount of people who asked me if I had tabled/will table at ANYC and their shocked looks when I said this was my first time selling anything 😭

Absolutely 😭 I think tomorrow I’ll try to keep me/my table helper on a schedule of standing up and taking a 5-10 min walk every 2 hrs or so to minimize the pain agh

I have some additional observations on correlation between irl sales vs online popularity and whatnot but will wait for end of day tomorrow to share my thoughts…since all of this is so new I’m taking notes and want to be transparent on my learnings and feelings…

But on a more serious note, I think the selling point has been a bit subpar due to low foot traffic (for everyone) but it was really cool to have people comment on my art and ask about my OCs in person! I’ve only ever talked about art-related things on soc med so it was a refreshing experience.

First day thoughts from a first-time tabling vendor:

I underestimated the amount of sitting to be done at conventions…I didn’t know sitting could be so exhausting

I have been sitting for so long, my back and butt hurt so much 😭

Today’s the day! Let’s get this bread!

Nova and Cosmo have some minor spats here and there but there hasn’t been anything too serious in a while. After every meal she sits at the foot of my chair waiting for pets (after which I’m stuck for several min) and cries when she wants to play 😭 She’s very cute and I think finally feels at home

I haven’t given an update on Cosmo and Nova in a while and I’m pleased to inform that Nova gave me a full 5 second blep today and is currently flopped at my feet, if anyone wanted to know their progress :3
