It's possible that generative AI could be designed and used in good and beneficial ways, and I'd like to believe it can also be done without horrific impact to communities and the planet, but what we have now is not that

I know some ppl are required to use it at work: this isn't about that, though I hope there are ways you can push back without risking your ability to pay bills and live

I'm talking to the employers who are forcing it and the ppl who choose to use it because it feels easy or inevitable to our future

It's only "the future" if we allow it to be. Yes, the billionaires have a ton of power and sway, but if we refuse their AI, the bubble can burst. We do not need to give them our power and agency as well

Do not obey in advance

You do not need a chatbot to feed you bullshit that approximates the appearance of a truth. It's easier in the long run to research or calculate things properly

You don't need to learn any of them now to "get ahead", especially if they're as easy to use as they claim

I wanna remind you all that you *do not* have to use generative AI

There are browsers & search engines that let you disable AI summaries or don't have them at all. You can search for reference images or use random generators for inspiration instead of tools that can only exist by grifting others

Remember all of those times you said you would pick up an indie game if it was on sale.

Now's that time.

Here's a list of solid titles you can pick up for less than 5 bucks.

Before I go on Etsy, are there any laid-off game artists in my follower/repost pool who would be available for a custom DnD party art commission? Four characters, a few special requests, preferably by Christmas? DM me! I have money!

* Finding a way to go back to work full time
* Making a new batch of vanilla extract
* Creating a D&D campaign from scratch (and running it!)
* Taking a photo w/Rob at a big xmas tree (a tradition)
* Running
* Playing viola again

Sometimes it's good to think about nice things waiting in the future

Some things I'm looking forward to, in no particular order:

* A friend's baby being born
* Getting married
* S2 of Bocchi The Rock
* Releasing the Wildermyth Omenroad soundtrack
* Sewing a curtain that I recently cut out fabric for
* Making a loaf of bread for the first time in a long while

Btw I read the article about "scientific advice for a longer life" and you guessed it, all of the things are way easier to do with more money

Good diet (specifically avoiding processed foods), getting good sleep, social interaction, aerobic exercise and weight training. So easy! Much accessible!

A poll of 8,750 adults revealed the secret to better aging in America.
What is it? Money. The Pew survey found income levels can affect someone's physical health, social life and even cognitive skills in retirement. Dig into the data here (link destination not shown).
Another interesting finding: Americans want long lives, but not too long. About 3 in 4 Americans want to reach their 80th birthday, but less than 30% want to live to 100.
Not rich? You can still follow this scientific advice for a longer life (link destination not shown).

Utahraptor: Maybe this next one will have a soupcon of righteous indignation!
T-Rex: One way to find out!

Utahraptor: By the way, do you ever wonder if anyone WANTS us to be fighting each other all the time in a torrent of ever-shifting anger, perhaps because it's profitable?
T-Rex: NO! And it makes me ANGRY that you'd suggest my anger isn't good! RARRGH!
