It's possible that generative AI could be designed and used in good and beneficial ways, and I'd like to believe it can also be done without horrific impact to communities and the planet, but what we have now is not that
I know some ppl are required to use it at work: this isn't about that, though I hope there are ways you can push back without risking your ability to pay bills and live
I'm talking to the employers who are forcing it and the ppl who choose to use it because it feels easy or inevitable to our future
It's only "the future" if we allow it to be. Yes, the billionaires have a ton of power and sway, but if we refuse their AI, the bubble can burst. We do not need to give them our power and agency as well
Do not obey in advance
You do not need a chatbot to feed you bullshit that approximates the appearance of a truth. It's easier in the long run to research or calculate things properly
You don't need to learn any of them now to "get ahead", especially if they're as easy to use as they claim
I wanna remind you all that you *do not* have to use generative AI
There are browsers & search engines that let you disable AI summaries or don't have them at all. You can search for reference images or use random generators for inspiration instead of tools that can only exist by grifting others
Remember all of those times you said you would pick up an indie game if it was on sale.
