Wolverhampton are slashing lit courses, Durham are allowing student work to be marked using gen AI, Edinburgh are on strike again next week, Oxford have entered some unholy partnership with Chat GPT. The prospect of a future without functioning higher education is starting to feel really frightening

I had some things to process and write about after encountering many interconnected experiences and insights about grief this week. Specifically, the Teaching in Higher Ed podcast, Robin DeRosa, Audrey Watters, and the TESS Conference

Going to #TESS2025! Officially registered as a non-member, though hopefully that will change before November.
Excited to see everyone and keep these connections alive.
any of my academic folks have tips for developing a short resume from a very very long academic CV?

Love to see a credited open image at the ultrasound clinic. Lol. #openaccess #openimages
If we can't stand our ground, who can?
Yesterday, I joined my brilliant colleagues at #AERA2025 for a panel, "AI and Educational Justice: A Critical Conversation." An audience member asked for more concrete ways to resist the imposition of AI on teachers/students - ahem, Trump's EO on AI - and I wanted to expand on my answer. 🧵
what eLearning authoring tools are y'all using for training and development? #eLearning #eddev
Video of the international student at Tufts being arrested by "federal authorities" in Massachusetts has been released and it's terrifying.
They're not even uniformed officers. Just secret police thugs in hoodies and masks.

People have been talking about this for decades. Open Practice for the win!

In a workshop for online engagement, a faculty member shared his use of "virtual calming rooms" and I had not heard of them. I did some searching, which was pretty cool, but ultimately landed on this live cams page, and it has made my day. You're welcome: explore.org/livecams

Hey Ed Developers and others who run PD sessions/workshops. What system do you use for PD management? I am looking for something that will help us post the sessions, have folks register, communicate to registrants/attendees, and track participation. 🙏 Thank you in advance!
First #OEWeek session complete. Thanks to those who attended. I look forward to the rest of the week! #OER
series of three photobooth pictures, with Ashlyne pretending to be with imaginary colleagues in the first two, and shrugging in the last one.
Imagine @uwinopenlearn.bsky.social colleagues beside me in the first two pics. Everyone was heading to the photobooth with their teams... so I improvised.

Had a time at #TESS2024 at the Toronto Reference Library. I was happy to connect with new and existing colleagues, though I admittedly missed my UWindsor colleagues as I attended solo, and as a member of St. Clair College, for my first time
What is your favourite presentation remote?
I am back in the F2F classroom, my Kensington PresentAir is no longer compatible with new hard/software. I'm just getting sick (after 2 weeks, lol), of walking back to my laptop to advance slides.
Ideally a rechargeable battery and Bluetooth
Having a great time at #OER24 in Cork. Thank you to my amazing colleague @bonstewart.bsky.social for working on 2SLGBTQIA+ Inclusive OER, and giving me an excuse to come back to Ireland ten years after my first visit. And thanks to @gastatom.bsky.social and everyone at MTU for making this happen.
...and I'd say the way it was delivered and received was very successful. Always love hearing from @jhangiani.bsky.social ... especially nice to see a familiar face my first time at #OER24.
