I’m watching a collection of Will Vinton commercials. Some of these I’ve seen, but a lot are new to me.
I’d be more open to accepting streaming ads if there was more weird animation and fewer insurance commercials that want to be sitcoms.

Funny to watch (a lot of, not all) TV go the way of the newspaper comic page. Less investment, refusal to innovate. Old guard hanging on with a white-knuckle grip. Shows running for 20 years nobody remembers exists. Just going through the motions, because what else is there.
I really like how many formats this is.

I walked past my freshman dorm a few weeks ago and there was a whole fleet of them out front. Between those, smart phones, and easy weed gummies, I’m so curious what that’s like now.
Too bad this film doesn’t know either.

Okay, one person has a smartphone, but no one else, and now the college students are going to the big screen to do a Google search. This is so very much written by olds (who are a few years younger than me).
I cannot tell if Pizza Movie is a period piece, or if it just looks like college did when I was there because it’s made by old people (born in the 1980s).

When I was in undergrad, there were orange iMacs stationed in the hallways of some of the campus buildings, almost like email pay-phones (except free), and 25 years later that still feels futuristic.
Not a new product line exactly, but everything now looks like Y2K era candy shell iMacs. No more black or muted color rectangles. No more boring metal. Bright transparent colors and plastic all the way.
Also bring back Touch ID if we’re going to have biometrics.
This is basically what watching Parks & Rec here in the future has felt like.

I wanted to find out more about "The Dinosaur Circus" (not least if it involved dinosaurs). There isn't much online, but I did find an obituary for Elena Steirer, who passed away in 2024, that mentions she used to work on Nancy! (drawing backgrounds for Guy Gilchrist)
We did reach a compromise shortly before the end of my lunch break. I am being unquestionably bullied by an elderly cat, but also as much as I would like to play my game I do love how clingy he is (and there are much worse ways for old cats to show their annoyance than aggressive cuddling).

I spent the entire first year of Covid working from the couch like this and he was fine, but he is having none of it.
