Not having much luck with the moose but we’re rich in Spruce Grouse this weekend. I made grouse au vin for dinner last night, it takes a long time (and a LOT of wine) to get tender but the results were worth it.

If it has an egg and it’s your breakfast it’s a breakfast sandwich, if it has an egg and it’s not your breakfast it’s an egg sandwich.

being a cat person is so crazy bc you live with someone who is undeniably annoying and you're always thinking "maybe i should get another cat"

*inventing Bluetooth* Well, it works about 60% of the time. That’ll probably be good enough forever.

Doesn't say why they need to fly them low directly over town...

Including desserts in lists of vegetarian dishes is bullshit by the way.

There appears to be corn growing at the Quigley landfill, and to think I’ve been stressing about food security in rural Yukon.

Friends don’t let friends walk by a mushroom without saying “hey look a mushroom”

Same!!

This is the first time I've grown lupines in the yard and they started blooming just as the wild ones along the road sides were finishing up, so much extra lupine time!

I think 2004 is the last time the smoke was this bad in Dawson. I’m pretty sure the slide was totally obscured at times that summer, it’s still visible this morning but just barely.

Thanks! So far so good 🤞

Fire season escalated rather quickly in our neighbourhood. A little scary when both roads out of town were closed but one is back open and the other is piloting people through occasionally so we’re not as trapped as we were yesterday! Hoping for a good rain and a some reprieve from the smoke.

I’m always surprised how cold it is in Whitehorse in the summer compared to Dawson. I love a hot summer, although I wouldn’t mind a little cool down at the moment…

Some food I've made recently at Bonton. I make six new dishes per week but rarely have/take the time to photograph them. I love lunch.

Literally yesterday I said "rice is really great if you're hungry and want two thousand of something".

No...but going forward I may think of urchins as "sea porcupines", if I am lucky enough to see or think about one.
