“It is this world that makes monsters of us all.” This collection of speculative short stories by author Yvette Lisa Ndlovu ( @yvettel.bsky.social ) might be my favorite of the year so far (and it’s only February)! www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

I feel like diving DEEP into folk horror/ folk fiction this year. I’m craving lore and pagan rituals, harvest festivals and oral histories, village cults and old gods. Basically I‘ve got a hankering for Wicker Man vibes!
How about you? What’s a sub-genre you feel like binge-reading this year?✨

“Fern saw her far-off shadow on the long grass as she went by; she saw all their shadows, and they looked like giants, they looked like monsters, they looked like goddesses. They looked like witches.” #WitchcraftForWaywardGirls had me in a chokehold, y’all! 🔮✨

A bloody, wintery, vampiric tale of warning to those who wish for immortality. #YouCantTakeItWithYou by author @marcushawke.bsky.social is a reminder that sometimes dead really is better! Check this novella out before Winter’s end! 🧛🏻‍♂️❄️

A serial killer living amongst her fellow animal folk, small-town suspicions, blood, gore, and quite the body count! #BeneathTheTreesWhereNobodySees was easily 5/5 stars for me! This entire series can be found on Hoopla for those who are interested! 🧸🩸🔪

Listening to audiobooks and reading novellas really helps! But also, I work at a library (and formerly a bookstore), so I have the privilege of making it my job to read frequently. 🙋🏽‍♀️💕

NEW YEAR, MORE BOOKS! What are some Reading Resolutions you’ve made this year? A few of mine are to (1) support my local bookstores (2) take advantage of my library card (3) continue reading books I already own, and (4) attempt to read 200 more books this year!!! (Yes…I’m insane for that last one)

True love is your husband going to bookstores while you’re at work, taking photos of #StephenKing books, texting said photos to you, and asking if he needs to bring back any of the books you don’t already own. A keeper, that one.💕

I don’t know about you, but I consider Susan Hill’s THE WOMAN IN BLACK (1983) to be required annual holiday reading! The perfect book to escape into on Christmas Eve if you enjoy eerie, Victorian gothic settings and angry, vengeful ghosts!✨
