being a mid-30s trans person is just me asking, repeatedly, "why are all my trans friends and I disabled?"

When my life is falling apart, I reread queer theory texts. This is from The Queer Art of Failure (Halberstam, 2011).
. We sur 68 ChApter two vived the era of Bush Senior only to be hit by the era of Bush Junior; we lived through the Gulf War only to witness its deadly replay in Iraq. The amnesiac cycle that solidifies U.S. hegemony, spreads the era of empire, and authorizes the return of the stupid white male is written in Dude as the triumph of the few, the brave, the “relentlessly moronic.”
Sedgwick’s prescription is “reparative reading,” a theory of more flexible sense-making that can hold truth and provide an antidote to the overwhelming paranoia of our times. While the conventional wisdom states, “Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean you don’t have enemies,” Sedgwick turns this formula on its head: “Just because you have enemies doesn’t mean you have to be paranoid.” Or to put it another way, having a direct understanding of systemic oppression (the healthcare system, police violence, the fascist state) does not condemn a person to a categorically paranoid point of view. To practice a worldview more expansive and more open to possibilities than paranoia does not mean you have to deny the reality or gravity of oppression.
Feeling paranoid about stochastic violence and weaponized media? Me too. That's why I can't stop thinking about this incredibly helpful essay by @littlewow.online in @flaminghydra.com about the idea of "reparative reading" as a corrective to the "paranoid style." flaminghydra.com/issue-511/

I literally saw a post two weeks back in which a guy with two jobs was flagellating himself because he was short on rent, lamenting that had he donated plasma more, maybe his rent would be on time. This system is deeply fucked. Earth is a pleasure cruise for 1000 people and we're all just the staff.
No son, they are not "magically delicious." The workers made them delicious. This is a slogan meant to mystify the social conditions of labor

Arranged like a grade school valentine’s card, art from the tabletop game TWO HAND PATH by Mikey Hamm: two hands with many accessories (rings, bracelets, tattoos) resting on top of each other, with more tattoos in the background. Text on the card reads, “Won’t you take my hand in yours?”
Arranged like a grade school valentine’s card, art from the tabletop game DIALECT by Kathryn Hymes and Hakan Seyalıoğlu: a tree with the names of dead languages written on its bark. Text on the card reads, “Words fail me when I’m with you, Valentine”
Arranged like a grade school valentine’s card, art from the tabletop game LAST TRAIN TO BREMEN by Caro Asercion: a train ticket featuring illustrations of a cockerel, cat, hound, and mule arranged in a square. everyone who is oggling at the neopets TTRPG's tone should click around Jellyneo for a while
Agreed; this is a rate that is unheard of within TTRPGs, especially for that volume of writing. Places that offer high rates tend to offer smaller projects. This works to out to more that I've made in the past 3 years (as a prolific TTRPG writer). I regularly write more than 50k words/year.

It's #BlackHistoryMonth and I want to use that follower count for some good today. If you are a Black creative, QRP with your links.

Writing warm-up this morning: adapting the beats structure from Heart to my PF2E homebrew campaign. The characters in the game were first played in Heart, and we're running a sandbox-y adventure, so this is a tool we want to keep using.
I love my husband sooooo much. He's so talented and full of whimsy! If you're friends with him, he would love some of art of one his characters (even if it's terrible)! I drew him a particularly shitty piece of art and he was delighted.
