This was my entry for Tranquility Press "One Day in a Very Long Dominion War" competition. Unfortunatel yI was not among the finalists, though give the exceedingly high quality of the entries that is unsurprising.

As an exchange on the floor, it was reported as “less audibly contentious than the transcript read, but visually, just as awkwardly scathing.” Known for incisive comments, Sardix had not adopted a reputation for so needling her colleagues before.

Quantum Slipstream Drive is a novel FTL technology first discovered by salvage crews examining the USS Hood after the Battle of Wolf-359 in 2367. The premise of the drive involves penetrating the quantum barrier using a quantum field, allowing for much faster FTL speeds than previously possible.

In the end, it was always going to be some damned foolish thing in the Archanis Sector.
READ CHAPTER 15 OF THE ARSENAL OF FREEDOM NOW
Ultimately Dralath's death in battle rather than losing a no confidence vote in the senate would make him a martyr and hinder attempts to roll back his centralising and politically limiting "reforms". The political climate of the late years of the Third Republic was very much Dralaths legacy.
Attempting to shore up his position Dralath would take personal command of the fleet and leading it in the disastrous battle of Metobos. Presumed dead after the destruction of his flagship though no body was recovered: rumours of encountering a drone of the Praetor would circulate in the fleet
Most costly would be his and the senate's mismanagement of their first contact with the Borg, that the Romulans would name Llaetus’le. The Borg crisis would led to the collapse of the Empty Frontier, a massive refugee crisis and heavy military losses.
But it was in foreign policy that Dralath's influence would be the greatest, and arguably the most disastrous. In 2344 he authorised the strike on the Klingon colony of Narendra III, a tactical success that would drive the empire's two oldest enemies into an alliance.
The later involved weakening the relative independance of Outmarch colonies that had begun during the empress reign. It also involved giving the Tal Shiar greater latitude in surveilling and persecuting disloyal elements within society, including ending the Right of Statement for sedition verdicts.
Dralath would seize on a scandal regarding corruption in overseeing settlements in the so called Empty Frontier to propel himself to the Praetorship. He would immediately begin enacting his two signature policies: a muscular approach to foreign powers and a strenghtening of central authority.
Eventually becoming a leader of the loyal opposition, he would rise to true power in the aftermath of the empress' death, when he would be instrumental in allying his faction to that of future Praetor Devoras Tr'Rllaillieu to see of the monarchist plots against the Third Republic.
Dralath began his career as a historian, specialising in the history of Earth-Romulan war. He ascended to the senate in 2277, standing for election to replace his uncle, a Second Republic loyalist who had resigned his seat rather than be purged by newly crowned empress Ael t'Rllaillieu.
Dralath tr’Kazanak was a senator representing the Omrashar segment on Romulus and Praetor for almost twenty years in the mid 24th century. A leader within the Ih'rhiymn (broadly conservative) faction, Dralaths praetorship would reshape the Third Republic.

USS Akagi
NCC-97011
The USS Akagi was a Starfleet attempt to trial carrier operations aboard super-capital starships. Launched mere months before the First Contact Day Massacre, the Akagi would play an influential role in both the events of the massacre and the years to come.

“IT WAS A TIE!” - Romulan senate spokesman, 2375
This chapter comes with big thanks to @nascentnovice.bsky.social, who helped me structure it and whose stuff you should read.
Chapter Six: Bloodfire is out.
As a deadly pandemic ravages Romulan subject worlds, the senate needs to face both the weaknesses of its colonial empire and the sudden apperance of yet another new threat. The Dominion has come, and nothing will remain the same.

The prototype for the Odyssey Class, Odyssey was the Advanced Starship Design Bureau’s entry into the Advanced Super-Capital Program. Faced off against Skunk Works’ Caliburn Class, Odyssey would vindicate herself and light the way for a full production order.

Indeed, there was reason to believe that the Council wouldn’t challenge the recommendations, even if Archer publicly announced his displeasure. So he tried another path. After all, as Archer put it to them, “You can’t just fire Aven Gamhol.”
