I have always said that if country music will openly treat white women the way it does (see thread below), Black folks can hang it up.

(Also that it’s particularly shameful, but not at all surprising, that white women help run the industry that oppresses them.)

Phee explaining what the players mean with the word "owe"
"The players (are) building this brand and this league. This is no league without the players. We feel like we are owed a piece of that pie that we helped to create."

Jackie Robinson is a Civil Rights hero. DEI helped him make history | Opinion Branch Rickey knew that signing Jackie Robinson as the first Black player in Major League Baseball’s modern era was a potentially risky endeavor.

So silly of MLB Commish Robert Manfred to say that Jackie Robinson’s legacy transcends DEI debate when Jackie, himself, is the quintessential DEI hire.

In fact, to celebrate Jackie Robinson Day is to celebrate DEI initiatives.

My Black Nashville in History and Memory course had class today in the Public Square. Topics discussed included Early Black Nashville, Nashville as a center of the slave trade, and TSU’s significant role in the struggle for Black equality.

The Book Ecosystem in Tennessee Is Under Serious Threat Trump's cuts could kill off the ecosystem of writers, historians, museums and libraries that sustains us

The column so depressing I thought my parents had hung up on me because the silence after I finished reading it to them went on so long.

Duke had a 92.7% chance to win with 1:26 left in the game, according to ESPN.

Houston went on an 11-1 run in the final 1:14 to fuel a comeback for the ages and send the Cougars to the National Championship 🤯

Kelvin Sampson had a message for people who doubted the Houston Cougars.

"We weren't 34-4 playing in the Toy Poodle League. We were 19-1 in the Big 12."

Filled with gratitude as our team is in Tampa for the Final Four. This time last year we were told by the NCAA that our outlet was too small to fit the criteria of national coverage.

Less than a year later we have three people headed down there with travel paid for through subscriptions.

Amazing

Lots of talk about the lack of Cinderellas this year, but this is a smart, and accurate!, way to flip that narrative.

But physical intimidation helps Pearson’s?

(Is there where I invoke “emotion” and tell you to “stop looking down on me”?)

1 year ago 1 0 0 0

Lots of assumptions here, but if that’s what helps you deal with your emotions, have at it I guess

So he should’ve stormed the dais?

The theater comment is re the overall state of politics, on both sides. IMO, a tolerance of theatrics begets Pearson’s physical actions.

Ie, he coulda stayed at the mic all day

Everybody has a role. As a columnist, mine is different from pearson’s, which is different from an activist’s or an attorney’s.

We’ve just forgotten this bc we’ve been confused by the theatrical nature of modern politics.

To the people in power? Who should, but don’t have to listen? I hear you, but history shows that it’s the “power-less” who drive change.

Re gun regulation, if the need is legislation, isn’t it important that Pearson be effective as a legislator? Do his actions hurt or help his bills?
