National Review accuses me of lying about the rise in maternal mortality since the end of Roe: "It turns out that maternal mortality rates declined in 2024 according to the CDC."
You absolute fucking tools, that's *national data*—take a look at what's happening in states where abortion is banned
@theonion.com do you want a science editor. I may know of someone who suddenly has a bit of time and the skills needed for the job.
Your new job at The Onion is endangered by reality. That sucks.
Some group somewhere is going to be incredibly happy to have you and your family join their community for the next decade or so. Seacoast of NH? Good schools available. Amtrak to Boston snark, occasional waves, close abrupt topo, chance to cut your scale from cosmos -> climate -> oceans?
Breaking Bad, but may not mix with flu. If you want totally mindless kinda sci fi feel good normal person stuck in with geeks running amuck then Eureka. It was on SyFy nee. SciFi
Good.
“ ‘Data’ is a plural noun. Data are plentiful. My centuries-long data set is unique.”

Have them draw and annotate an alien (the outer space kind) then make them design the planet they live on, explain the biomechanics and biochemistry of it all at whatever level they may be, and how the hell they could ever get to earth. And explain the difference between cosmology and cosmetology.

The Supreme Court ruling has helped the family of one man in particular: the architect of Trump’s tariffs himself.
A firm headed by Lutnick’s sons was allowing its traders to purchase the rights to hundreds of millions of dollars of refunds in the event tariffs were struck down. trib.al/JcwQ9MT
Clearly it goes below the other (flat) side of the earth. Because, you know, everyone once said the sun revolves around us, the chosen ones. I’m shocked his cabinet hasn’t explained that to him.

The survivors were all white. The black one with a big 5-0 on it got nailed. Everyone says it is some sort of gang slang.
What about the nannies? Did they ask?
Mitt pays his tailor.
The one in the airport mall next to Zayre’s? Or are you young enough that the ME mall was the place to be?

Well, my fellow Maine voters. Here is Susan Collins today paying tribute to her boss while holding her MAGA hat.
You’ve gotten them out of order, and, depending on household, they were preceded by either Cronkite or Huntley and Brinkley. But yes. Except for Hooterville today’s regime would object to the witchcraft, socialism, misalignment of the social order and Arnold Ziffel getting to vote. Long live Mr Ed.

That wouldn’t even fool a pre-K kid. WTF was he thinking. They should blast him all the more for the insult.
I spent most of my ‘physics of beaches’ career keeping the policy side of my formal education silent either by mandate of peer pressure. Since retiring I’ve found service (in US) on local and regional land use boards a societally productive outlet. It isn’t IPCC, but it matters.
It is past time to use my windfall from the 600% drug price decrease to support some good trouble.
