I hope there will be further progress regarding local models in the next one to two years.
Ideally, I'd like to use only my local LLM on my Mac Mini for my OpenClaw instance right now. But that's simply unrealistic. Even though I have 48 GB of VRAM for verification and can run Gemma4 with 26 billion parameters, it's just not enough to approach the capabilities of a cloud-based model.
So far, EnteAuth is definitely my favorite app for two-factor authentication codes. It works well on iOS and Windows; unfortunately, the Linux version isn't as user-friendly, but luckily there's also a web app. I highly recommend it.

It still feels a bit strange to be working permanently on Ubuntu. But so far, there's nothing I really miss. And what I do miss, I build myself with Codex or Claude Code. It's definitely a much smoother way to work than under Windows.

The Braille Sense 7 looks really awesome, considering the specs. Finally, a modern Braille note-taking device. Maybe I can somehow manage to get one for work.

I recently bought Libby from Blastbay as the new voice for NVDA in English. It sounds really natural and has a very pleasant delivery. At $20, it's an absolutely fair price.

Hello ChatGPT, goodbye Gemini. With all the changes, you just have to jump back and forth a bit to try out new things.
TADA: Hume AI releases fast, open-source model for hallucination-free speech generation. Available on GitHub and Hugging Face. Sounds exciting, I'll try it out sometime:

Oh, look at that. Another Mastodon thing I didn't know about. If you follow hashtags via the web interface, they appear directly in your home timeline.

I have a question for all blind Android users. I keep torn between iOS and Android and wanted to know if you use any kind of smartwatch? And if so, which one? That's the only thing holding me back from getting an Android phone. There's simply nothing as user-friendly as the Apple Watch.
Why do so many companies fail to configure their USB-C ports correctly so that the device doesn't draw significantly more power than it actually needs? This causes flash drives and hard drives to overheat unnecessarily.
Where will we be in three years if so much money continues to be thrown at this?
#Claude is the first AI chatbot so far that behaves and sounds truly natural. Furthermore, #Anthropic is the only company that has even come close to achieving long-lasting memory. And to this day, I find that somewhat creepy.
Donald Dumb, love it! Why haven't I heard this before?
Do you have any tips on how to learn?
Are there any blind people here who are familiar with installing and removing computer components and can do it themselves? I don't really trust myself to do it yet, but I'd like to improve. So far, I've always relied on the help of sighted people, but I'd like to become more independent.

German tech journalists who say JitHub. I get a headache when I hear that.
Eliten, Machtmissbrauch, Schweigen.
I don't quite understand why Google has done this now. Suno and Udio are already ten times better at generating music, and then only 30-second snippets. I don't see any real added value in this so far.

Even though many consider it old-fashioned and outdated, since there are much more natural-sounding voices, I could never part with it.
I know this is a very divisive debate, where I think people are either lovers or haters, but to this day, I’ve never been able to move past Eloquence as a voice on all the screenreaders I use.
I now have an active #Gemini and an active #Claude subscription, and I thought Gemini was amazing, but Claude, especially the new Opus 4.6, is just beyond belief. It feels less and less like a machine when it responds. Especially when you write reasonably meaningful prompts.
I spontaneously ordered two new 20 TB hard drives this morning; they're refurbished. I hope they're in good condition, but at 20 TB for 400 euros each, you just have to jump at the chance.
