A 3rd scenario is that if AI is that good, experienced devs can build enterprise solutions themselves or in very small teams more quickly than the big boys lumbering behind decades old red tape and inflexible company structure. If everyone Amazon and Oracle are binning can work faster, who wins?

Manually validating AI output does not scale, even now. It needs a level of automation.

Bur we're likely going 1 of 2 ways. Either companies leverage AI and boost output or cut jobs or freeze hires and stagnate at current output. Will depend on which is more profitable when token cost increases.

I'd argue Go has made it too easy, one line to limit your go routines? Easy to miss. Not like when you set up a semaphore with a buffered channel. Although I'd be keen to know why each routine did a Dial, gRPC supports multiple requests over a single connection.

As always o11y, or lack of, is key

Root cause seems to have been lack of throttling of go routines. It's easy to say it shouldn't happen but it does, especially when hitting a well established RPC....and then you get the Swiss Cheese effect on top that is all to common in complex systems trying to remain stable.

Doordash driver is representing her cause perfectly. She's now got me wondering why tips are being taxed.

Imagine being so naive as to support Trump and then actually realise you have than obscene level of nativity...that must hit very hard.

You are correct, I misread that, thanks for the clarification. Rubbish situation all round, not many taking out personal life insurance if employer provides cover. Hopefully Epic/insurance provider do the right thing.

Given the circumstances Epic do not look good. However the real issue here is that access to healthcare should not be linked to employment status for this exact reason.

NHS Scotland has its problems but one of them is not to start billing for treatment because my job has changed/gone.

Just thinking alt text is essentially what a prompt would be. Would be a handy way to kill 2 birds (and get rid of artists) with 1 stone.

Ironic given one of the causes of the price rise is down to resource procurement by AI firms.

If this is the future then a lot of PMs are going to learn the hard way that developers weren't just being difficult. Code and creation is easy.

Cogs, security, good infra, reliable observability, reliable validation, safe change and refactoring are not. AI can help with those but only if you ask

I feel lucky I got to experience the genuine jumps. Speccy to Amiga. Amigo to Doom, then Doom to Quake, Far Cry, Half Life 2.

But innovation stopped years ago. Latest COD cannot justify needing the hardware it does. My kids will reject DLSS5 and hardware cost. They're playing Geometry Dash anyway.

ICO fine incoming for Crunchyroll then, well over the 72 hours.

My eldest getting a very useful example of why I am so strict on unique passwords. But I'm furious that his bank details may be exposed. It's 2026 FFS! It's not hard (or expensive) to do it right, epic levels of incompetence.

You've got a typo in the word "freedom", it doesn't start with "p" and end in "e"

Ok, the assertion is that the US has no minesweeping ability at a time when they need it. Should a minesweeping capability be shown to exist that will be enough unfortunately.

For the record the Vulcan bomber in the Falklands displays the big difference between decommissioned and scheduled to be.

This is a very important point. Any inaccurate statements just give fuel to a rebuttal.

Very easy to disprove the innaccuracy and have that then apply to the whole statement and by extension any statement then made on the same side if the argument.

Hi Pete, just wondering if any venues in Scotland have ever been in contact about booking you. Though I totally understand if a one off trip to say Dunfermline isn't financially viable or not viable at all because it's Fife.

Yep, I'm sorry but for this individual in Scotland, I have to know who I am interacting with if you're from the USA. There is no soft "off ramp" any more, ship sailed....it's gone.

Also plenty of folks in Northern Ireland know full well the dangers of division, naturally suspicious.

Much more recent but your performance in The Fall of House Usher was superb. I didn't recognise you, so used to a larger than life character. Real talent to genuinely become someone else entirely.

The building of the software is such a small part of what makes it worthwhile someone investing in.

I'm not yet seeing it,i'm spending a lot of time flagging dangerous changes to existing code that don't consider production safety. At the moment unless you ask AI to do the correct thing it doesn't
