So, for instance, Switzerland by these definitions is considered a 3rd world nation.

And since the current version of the USA is neither truly aligned with ANY nation, we're entirely something new.

We're 4th world.

1st World, 2nd World, 3rd World, these classifications are not economic, they're political.

1st world is for nations aligned with the United States/NATO

2nd world is for nations aligned with the USSR/China (Yeah, I know, the USSR no longer exists, but this is how old these classifications are).
