I think Steve is referring to the fact that iPhones now have satellite voice comms built in.
I guess the window glass is metallised which will probably block iPhone satellite signals. So they need a phone with an external antenna.
I guess when they power the systems down the main radio link will shut down which is why they needed the SAR or SAT phone to communicate. The extra 15 minutes must be required to ensure all systems are disabled in the event there is no comms between the crew and the SAR team.
The story I have just read said he has applied for an ETA yesterday which was refused. You wouldn’t apply for an ETA if you already had a full visa for the required purpose.

Except that geographically (seeing you are talking continents) Cyprus is in the Middle East. It is only Politically and Culturally European.
Just stated on the BBC news that Cyprus has protested ‘in the strongest possible terms’ to the British following the drone strike last night.
If you fly across another countries airspace you should have agreed processes in place to stop this sort of thing happening. Were they in place?
Then why did Starmer tell the Cypriot President earlier and unequivocally that Cyprus had not been the target of those two missiles?
