whenever someone says "ai is good at coding now" it makes me assume their methods of evaluating whether software meets its claimed behaviour are not very good. as in they do not know how to falsify claims

I think forcing the other players to reveal the top card of their library ~70 times would be very unfun in practice if they made you play it out, which they should, because you probably fail a kill around 10% of the time. A player could also concede and break your kill, which would be funny as heck.

It’s also non deterministic, you could totally hit zero mana off Selvala’s ability and brick 50 cards deep and pass directly into losing the game, which would be frustrating for the other two players at the table. If you add in mana doublers or increases like Badgermole Cub (if it works?) maybe?

I think the characterization of it as a kill switch is a bit misguided? If you’re playing in a group that has similar power levels to you you should never feel like you have the option to end the game but choose to not play it, because they should be actual threats.

I’ve never liked group hug because most of my experience with it is decks that truly have no win condition or intent to play it, that they would rather “get second place” (their words) by “choosing” a winner. It sounds like you aren’t doing that, so that’s good, but I’d probably be upset at first…
