I wrote a little something with my husband, Norm Pearlstine. We share a bed, and now we share a byline!
Forget the 51st state business proposed by DJT. Put Canada and @mark-carney.bsky.social in charge of the whole shebang.

Dave McKenna digs into the sad state of Pimlico, which began under Frank Stronach. It captures Stronach's chronic mismanagement & erratic decision-making, which turned the track into something shabby & dangerous.

My husband, Norman Pearlstine, was busy.
He's written a fantastic piece for @fortune.com about Henry Luce and the American Century....and how Donald Trump is bringing that Century to an end.

A devastating piece about the corporate enablers who helped the Fayeds get women alone where they were sexually exploited.
I experienced similar as an intern at Magna International & Frank Stronach sleazed on me.
These enablers should all be ashamed of themselves.

Taking @janeeboon.bsky.social along with me to Luxembourg. Again this photo was too much for Instagram and they deleted it. 😝
Awww... Thanks for letting BOLD STROKES tag along with you...I hope you enjoy the book... Because I'm sure the book is enjoying being in your company.
Heading to Geneva and then onwards to Courchevel. Fingers crossed that I stay upright and out of hospital. I'm better at the "après" part than the "ski" part!
Guilty!
I've found #babygirl to be a conversation-starter.
I was at a dinner party this week, even, where the movie came up. Knowing that I'd written 2 novels about BDSM, the other guests sought out my thoughts on the movie. So fun!

Writer/Director #HalinaReijn in her movie #babygirl
poses some juicy questions about "who has the power?" Is it Romy the CEO, or Samuel the intern who's dominating her?
I have a theory that goes beyond D/s or job titles, & here I dig into who's *really* in charge.

Here's my analysis/review of #Babygirl. It's a worthwhile film, both for its fantastic performances, and for its nuanced depiction of Romy's coming to terms with her desire to submit sexually.

Very smart analysis of the movie #Babygirl by Chantal Gautier, a sex therapist. She digs into shame, consent, etc, that were depicted in the film. Her thoughts align with mine, regarding Halina Reijn's savvy representation of dominance & submission in the movie.

If you've seen the movie #Babygirl, I'd love to know your reaction.
What did you think of the kink? What caught your eye in the story? Are you now crushing on Nicole Kidman, Harris Dickinson or Antonio Banderas? Will you listen to George Michael's "Father Figure" the same way again?
On balance, the movie was a very worthwhile way to spend two hours and the performances were fantastic.
It's unusual to see BDSM presented with little judgement, and in fact, the end of the movie (spoiler alert) shows that Romy and her husband have strengthened their marriage by incorporating kink.
I think if you're going to represent a CEO (of any gender) it's more intriguing if their sexuality hews submissive. But throw in a young intern with a dominant streak, #Babygirl was exploring something very combustible. At least the intern was in his mid20s & keen on being "daddy" to his "Babygirl."
I generally prefer power dynamics that are opposite of the prevailing gender dynamics, so my instincts are to prefer depictions that are femdom/malesub.
#Babygirl has Romy as a CEO, which puts her in the category of "powerful person wanting to submit" which is a classic trope, and it works here.
The depiction of age play was great. Likewise, the depiction of shame. I was bummed that Romy's backstory was in a cult, which was included, I think, to suggest that her urge to submit was related to that early trauma. This is regrettable as kinks can arise from the most wholesome of upbringings.
The explicit discussion of safewords was also a thoughtful inclusion. Having Romy select her husband's name as hers was a very cinematic choice, but I think we can all agree that if she said his name, things would stop immediately! There are other, less loaded choices, but that's up to them.
I've often joked that to participate in BDSM is to get a graduate seminar in consent, as there is often a very explicit negotiation. It was great that Halina Reijn
included this aspect to the Romy/Samuel dynamic. It's rare to see affirmative consent modeled onscreen--and to see how hot it can be!
A couple of points.
In #Babygirl there was a discussion of consent between Romy/Samuel--at his initiation--a detail that could easily have been omitted for time, but which seemed intended to show that Samuel is, at core, careful with Romy....even as he presents like the quintessential f*ckboy.
I saw #Babygirl by Halina Reijn & had some thoughts about its depiction of Kink/BDSM. From the use of safewords/affirmative consent, its depiction of shame, & even an exploration of the gap between pervy fantasies & pervy realities, the film is very savvy & sensitive.

My husband, Norm Pearlstine, has a piece out today about Trump, the press, and all those billionaires who are now kissing Trump's ring (some who also own news outlets!)

Well I loved the last one Edge Play so I am sure this will be a stinger @janeeboon.bsky.social
Today, my job is "beach"!
Had a wonderful lunch with @mxvalentina.bsky.social.... We talked about kink, Wall Street, art and mutual friends....
It feels great to know that my novel #BoldStrokes is in her elegant, mischievous hands.
🤞-- that she likes it!
And "Mistress Vanessa" would do "unsparing criticism" so, SOOOO well.
Kudos to @kenwhite.bsky.social for understanding this is often a premium service provided -- consensually -- by an expert... And it's not for whiners...
Damn straight. Where's my cassis?!?
Returning to NYC. Prosecco at the ready.
