Another old friend, Lou Zocchi, the Gamescience “dice man”is gone. Inventor of the “Zocchihedron” 100-sided die, Lou’s company supplied polyhedral randomizers for most of us early D&D players. A fixture of GenCon dealer’s rooms, Lou was an OG of game entrepreneurs.

Yep, I’m here. My fellow designer Greg Poehlein—who worked with me on the Star Trek RPG—also lives in Evansville. We were an early hotbed of adventure gaming activity. I got started when living in Bloomington, with SF author John M Ford as my roommate & first DM when D&D was first published.
Is Starfleet Academy “woke”? I hope it is, and stays that way. There is no vice in opening your eyes, and no virtue in closing them. To open your eyes and see truth without fearing it — that is the only real definition of becoming “woke” there is. The opposite of “woke” is “willfully blind”.
Is Starfleet Academy “corny”? Truth is always corny because at the core it is obvious. Is it “preachy”? Only to those who need to hear the preaching most. Is Holly Hunter’s performance too flippant? Humor is one of the best ways to speak truth.
Ok, I’ve been watching Starfleet Academy, along with all the rabid criticism. I’ve got to ask — what the f**k are the critics TALKING about?
Starfleet Academy is the purest version of Star Trek I’ve seen in years. Brilliant, beautiful and true to the show’s ideals. I approve, wholeheartedly.
I’m so sad to hear about the passing of my old friend Jean Rabe. My thoughts and love go out to her husband Bruce, and to her many friends and fans. One of the most creative people I have ever known. Also one of the most loved. She will be greatly missed.
I built SO many models of these with different configurations for the pod. I looked and looked for one of the Hawk models, but never found one.

This is not a favorable growing season for spines in the US, it appears. Perhaps England, Canada, Ukraine, Denmark — or some other country that has NOT yet given up on us could still spare us a few seeds this new year. They seem to have a good crop, and there is a real backbone famine here.
On behalf of my country, I apologize profusely. We should have kicked Orange Pennywise to the curb long ago. It is a national shame & tragedy that we have failed to step up and do so. I still have some hope that my fellow US citizens will grow a spine soon, but Jan 2026 is not showing promise.

This keeps the 7-2 map in place, saving two Democratic seats heading into 2026.

Internet connection here in the nursing facility where I am recovering has been down for a day and a half. I’m working on my 5G phone and it is so slow and unreliable that it is driving me crazy. C’mon - this being semi-bedridden is bad enough without additional isolation!

Dot & Lotta secretly direct a cadre of supernatural avengers, including the ghost of a dead child, a sarcastic demon, and a young, out of control witch. All of these have a grudge against the Rich family empire. This just begs for the Gail Simone touch, doesn’t it?
There we go. Bring Dot, Lotta, etc back as gritty superheroes! (Or maybe antiheroes.) Dot is a sexy hardcore graffiti artist sticking it to the Man, and Lotta is a foul-mouthed chef and Food Network star. Together, they fight the corruption of the Richard Rich corporate empire.
Whatever happened to those old Harvey characters? Little Dot, Little Lotta, Hot Stuff the devil? Only Richie Rich and Casper are still familiar names to kids. Yeah, they were often one-joke characters, but as a kid I used to read them alongside my Superman and Batman comics and enjoyed them.
