@sarahchampionmp.bsky.social Thank you for your part in recognizing and resourcing the BBC World Service. Breathing a great sigh of relief here. Thank you.

Isn’t this your destiny- Where there’s trouble, there’s a Dalrymple? Please stay safe.
Perhaps the UK gov will now realize the importance of having a public service broadcaster to the world - unlike the US, where VOA is now VOT. #BBCWS
and adapted by Robert MacFarlane, who talked about how the book stirred his love of reading (and wintry landscapes) on R4 Today last week if you didn’t catch it. I was sad he didn’t mention the brilliant WS series (maybe edited out?). #R4Today
#BBCWS
But she did (like many of her Peers) use a lot of words. In the meantime, Jersey and Isle of Man seem to have just got on with it.
Thank you!
But the gov seems to have forgotten that many in this group were (once they were re-enfranchised by Boris Johnson) very keen to vote them in at the last election. You’d have thought they might want to keep this constituency on their side.
I think Dual Nationals did pick up well in advance that an ETA is required on non UK passports. But the form to be filled in (e.g by a spouse) is clear that Dual Nationals may not apply themselves.
‘fraid not. Dual nationals may not apply for the ETA on another passport.
Do we know how many Brits there are in Europe who became dual nationals in disgust after Brexit but then helped vote Labour in in the last election? How is punishing this group and their families with this latest passport business a good idea?
I agree all the way. Let’s see what more of this Andrew M-W comes up with. And there is a neat Acronym, DARVO: www.jjfreyd.com/darvo
Thank you. Yes, v. good article. Alles Gute für 2026!
The interview this morning on the BBC R4 Today prog (08.10
slot) was very moving. Thank you to all involved (and worth checking out who these people were).
As an antidote: BBC Food prog on ‘In search of mustard in Norwich’ was a little citizen storytelling gem, ICYMI.
Thank you. Yes, but I don’t want to scroll down instead of dialling through! And on-demand looking a bit hit-and-miss at the moment, too.
A last day listening to BBC Sounds before it is switched off outside the UK tomorrow. No more easy dialling through the stations. Now R4 and WS are relegated to the bottom of a new app (and “wherever you get your podcasts”). But BBC radio still a precious gift and service to the world. Thank you.
Thank you. Feels appropriate to read this today as BBC Sounds is switched off outside the UK from tomorrow. They seem to have found a workaround for Radio Ulster though … I will see whether I can access this series.
The murdered Minnesota lawmaker’s name was Melissa Hortman. Hope this can be corrected in the post. Thx
I really enjoyed the BBC documentary (until it was sad).
Have tried to sign, but non-UK postcode not accepted. Sorry.
Thank you for TRIP and Leading. In your next Q and A, could you cover the changes the BBC is making re. radio? Listeners abroad will soon no longer have access to the Sounds app. Seems not to have been publicised much yet, though. Thx.
Thanks, Jay. This was really timely, helpful, informative and articulately put, drawing from all those perspectives you have cultivated. The partnership with you and Dan here works really well.
I see they now do a white chocolate bar with liquorice… Something for your trip?
Thx. Sent to physical friends to pass on.
Thank you. This I think reflects what Robin Wall Kimmerer is reminding us of in her latest book ‘The Serviceberry’.
