The Engine Beneath the Magic Kingdom Disney isn’t buying Epic for Fortnite. It’s buying the operating system it’s already built on.

Disney-Epic acquisition story isn't about Fortnite. A significant portion of Disney's ecosystem already runs on Epic's toolchain. The real question is whether Disney buys the foundation it's renting.

You Can Pick Up the Cats What communities actually punish when AI assets ship without disclosure

My substack breaks down how studios manage AI controversy.

T1 (Tetris, LoL) never came for human craft.

T3 (Crimson Desert, Clair Obscur) had the community reserves to absorb it.

T2 is the exposed middle: roguelikes, mid-tier games with story as optional texture, thin trust reserves.

Where AI Belongs (And Doesn't) The disclosure question is settled. This is the production question: where does AI help, where does it hurt, and how do you tell the difference before something ships with extra legs.

My latest Substack maps what to automate, what to augment, and what to protect in your GameDev pipeline.

And why me stealing @paulmurphyetc.bsky.social 's lunch makes him a far better writer than any LLM ever could.

I once made placeholder art as a producer. And I would take time out every day for fun refining it ten minutes at a time and before you knew it, it became final art.

Over here the adoption is so high that the grid was oversaturated within a year. We're a use case in over population and vulnerable to global warming and floods despite us contributing very little to it. But it tells you that when large populations adopt they can create system wide change.

I used to work in community energy sharing platforms within the EU that were AI/Blockchain driven. They worked for the EU becaue they dont have the population scale of South Asia so communities had to collaborate for AI driven energy systems.

We don't seem to be having as big of an energy crisis because our power grid is overloaded with netmetered energy. The grid is oversaturdated with energy so we're not having the crisis we did in 2008 which lasted for over ten years. Instead we are dealing with really spiked petrol/gas prices.

Also Sam Kieth died. This is one of my favorite panels ever. I don't think I will be able to land a Sam Kieth piece to add to my collection in my lifetime... but I would love one at some point.

I’ve been reading words written by a friend from inside the war. Not rage, vengeance but a personal sense of love. They are already winning the deeper battle because the real occupation isn’t on a map. It’s the one within. The survivors who don’t allow that colonization will be the ones who rebuild.

So far I’m okay with Starfleet Academy but it pisses me off that they wont show the Cerritos or Protostar in the beginning 60th anniversary thing. You can do better @startrek.bsky.social

I’m perfectly fine with ChatGPT being used to spy on me by the government. I can just imagine a robo-pigeon going “Before we continue, are we pretending this isn’t being monitored?”

Bummed that there is no 'Days of Ramadan' event on Steam this year. It's a great time for games to be showcased vibing with Next Fest like they did last year. Free Fire is doing an amazing job as always running their Ramadan event. Garena has always done a great job at building around communities.

I switched proteins because there was a big red t-Rex on the tub and no other real scientific reason. This is what happens when @paulmurphyetc.bsky.social starts influencing you.

Please Read The Letter YouTube video by Robert Plant - Topic

Charlie Jones is one of my favorite bassists and I was pleasantly surprised to learn that beyond playing for Robert Plant in his post Led-Zep years, he also co-wrote 'Please Read the Letter'.

I think I really love stringed instruments made in Brazil. I know tonewood isn't a thing but it sure as heck feels like it.

The Story of Game: Part 2 The Seven Engines And Why Your Studio Picked the Wrong One

Knowing which story engine will power your game is the difference between success and failure; especially when it comes to Transmedia. Fallout's TV show led to $80mn in additional game sales without Behtesda spending a dime. Arcane, despite it being awesome, failed to add to LoL's player base.
