Poetry and stillness are good for those kinds of deep wounds and losses. Wishing you peace on a difficult anniversary.
Every extra centimeter of hood height is another blind spot.
This isn’t an accident. It’s a design choice.
Stop manufacturing, selling, and buying these machines.

Side question: what’s H Mart like? I’ve never been there (as malls tend not to be regular destinations).
Such wise commentary about the crises of addictions, homelessness and mental health on our streets. It's not a 'sweepable' problem, it's systemic. This is so insightful > www.timescolonist.com/opinion/comm...
Check out the piece on Patrick Friesen in today's @winnipegfreepress.com!

All this, history will likely show, because Putin owns Donald due to earlier financial or moral transgressions (or both).
Looking for an editor? Catherine is insightful and has a quick turnaround. Highly recommended.

My newish reviews site is all for Canadian women poets who have published more than one book ("firstbookers" often get more than enough attention in this country!). Ask at catherineowenwriter@gmail.com if I want you or your publisher to send me a copy :)
"20 yrs ago the world took a year to add 1 gigawatt of solar.
Now it takes just half a day.
Solar costs have fallen by around 90% over past decade, & as costs fall, installations accelerate.
Nowhere is this clearer than in China 🇨🇳. It now accounts for well over half of global solar installations"
Looking forward to biking that way today.
Book reviews are becoming too rare. I mean real reviews, by real reader/writer/critics, not smarmy 'Chat' generated promo stuff. Writers & readers depend on real reviews, so thanks to @albertaviews.bsky.social & @cowenwriter.bsky.social for this review >> albertaviews.ca/what-is-brok...
Yes. As a former Albertan I am dismayed that right wing extremism has taken hold with a significant faction. As are many friends who still live there.
Wow! Congratulations Leslie. I look forward to reading the essay.
Thanks for this clear commentary, Catherine, and for all your thoughtful book reviews over the years. We need more of this.
It’s been that kind of year down your way, it seems.
If you can swim. If you can swim. You swimmers are so ‘swimist’ 🤣
Yesterday, the most generous and intelligent consideration of my forthcoming book, The Art of Looking Back, and new books by Kerry Clare and Peter Darbyshire. In this difficult world, kindness and attention means everything.

Not a great environmental message: the two tour buses idling in the Blanchard St bike lane outside Royal Theatre today. #yyjbike
The great thing about solar energy is that nobody starts wars to control it.

Thanks Sheelagh. A lot of fine writing in this anthology.
Totally. There’s walkability and then there’s pleasant walking routes. My walk to Cook St Village would not happen as often if I had to walk Cook St rather than Chester, with its gorgeous tree canopy.
