Yesterday at 9:03 PM Nero Griffin was helped peacefully across the rainbow bridge. Over the past week he had been steadily declining, but I hope all of you can take solace in the fact that the last week of his life was full of as much loving as possible. I slept by his side every night and he got all the steak he could stomach. Unfortunately yesterday he stopped eating and walking which was when we decided it was time. We called a specialist to come to our home and he helped Griffin cross gracefully, surrounded by the people in the world who loved him the most. He was 10 years old. In the last few hours, we all sat around Griffin and reminisced about the happy times he brought us, each of us sharing pictures and videos of him that we had taken. This particular one here is one of my mom's personal favorites, and even now just remembering those good times makes me smile. Griffin was a dog so full of life and soul, even as he got on in years he never lost that puppy dog enthusiasm. It was impossible not to feel touched by his beautiful face or his goofy charm, and that's how I'll always remember him, and I hope that's how you remember him also. Goodbye, Griffin. I love you more than you could ever possibly know.
