Congratulations on your birthday!

When booze and drugs are gone, the mind, brain, body & spirit begin adjusting to sobriety. It’s rarely a smooth ride. It DOES get better. And better. Until one day you hear yourself say “I am a grateful alcoholic.” The very statement that confused and pissed me off when I got here. 😎 U R not alone.

That sounds like a very healthy response to drama. It also sounds like a great meditation, “today. I do not have to involve myself or allow myself to be drawn into another person‘s drama. “ 😎

Love is not bound by rules of time and space. Your recovery honors her as it feeds your spirit.

Congratulations, Doc! One of the most frequently asked questions I get from those and active addiction and drinking is “Isn’t a sober life boring?” It’s so hard to answer that question because the joy and freedom of a #sober life must be experienced to be understood.

Congratulations! “Sick & tired of being sick & tired” is cliched but can provide an opening foothold for clarity & willingness. My experience was similar. Last drunk wasn’t a huge drama, but I woke up w/a sense of clarity in the desire to live my life w/o alcohol. Way to go & again, CONGRATULATIONS

The difference between peace and serenity in sobriety. Anyone can have peace if they keep their mouth shut. It’s serenity I want #recoveryposse #sobersky #recovery

I never met him but have read his books and articles. He led a number of seminars and retreats not far from where I live, but it seemed like I was never free to go when he was here.

Strange. I looked through my settings and they all seem to be pretty normal. I suppose it wouldn’t be computers without glitches.

It sounds so simple, but is so difficult to put into practice. It is a great day when I make progress toward returning love for hate.

Meeting life on life’s terms one day at a time! Congratulations!

You raise an important point. One of the things 12 steppers seem to love most about their earliest members is they were not paragons, but ordinary people as flawed as the rest of us. There is a good book entitled Not—God: A History of Alcoholics Anonymous that explores this point.

Thank you so much! I love trivia like this and will put it in my collection. Cheers

That’s very cool. I’d love to see a picture of it if you get a chance. History has always fascinated me. AA history is particularly interesting because we are far enough away temporally to see the early historical drift, but still close enough and with enough primary source to observe the process.

Lol. It would be a neat trick though. Maybe The Doctor gave him a ride in the Tardis. That whole Atlantic City spree has comic elements like that spotty timeline. I love the image of Dr. Bob going around to what seems like every person in Akron trying to make amends.

yeah, there are certainly a lot of events to choose from to commemorate the founding. Don’t know what process was used to select June 10 over the others

These events may be of scant consequence to some. Many millions of people around the world whose lives were improved by the 12 steps of recovery first suggested by Alcoholics Anonymous & later taken up as a program of recovery from various addictions & traumas find reason to celebrate these events.

I completely agree with you. Those people can speak individually about their own views. What is clear is that no one can speak as a representative of AA on any outside issue and politics is specifically included within that umbrella in the long form of Tradition 10. www.aa.org/sites/defaul...

So very true! I love that line about the broken places are where the light comes in.
