And you think you have ‘common sense’?
No.
No.
And thrice no.
Either that or you are simply a transphobe. Or bigot.

Do you not think there are many, many more uses of money like giving all children a meal at school, funding special education needs in schools, supporting homeless people, etc etc than building more toilets?

1 year ago 2 0 1 0

Do you not think that, instead of spending money creating toilets for trans people we should first create enough toilets with proper changing facilities for disabled people and children who often have to lie on a toilet floor?

Do you think trans women who ‘pass’, ie: can’t be read as trans, will not just go in the women’s? Do you not realise that many cis women WILL be publicly shamed for being in the wrong loo? It happens already.

Do you think that creating a whole set of new bathrooms across all public spaces for less than 1% of the population makes for ‘common sense’? When the vast majority of cis women don’t care?

You think you have common sense??? Do you not think trans people going in and out of rooms with a massive label above the door is a safety problem? Or does you common sense ignore the murder, abuse, and violence trans people disproportionately face.

Why has @theguardian.com come to blue sky? Stay on x and leave blue sky to kinder and more progressive people.

Haven’t had time to fully read this but I can already see problems with it.

Eg: it omits
Durwood et al (2017) Mental Health and Self-Worth in Socially-Transitioned Transgender Youth

While including at least 1 from those with agendas.

Also no authors named…

Anybody who felt Webb was ‘a good one’ before this has completely ignored his blatant and toxic transphobia. Trans people are the current ‘canary in the coal mine’.
Cis people…STOP IGNORING TRANSPHOBIA.

@theguardian.com removed these passages from a column judith butler wrote after the ‘gender critical’ hacks who write for them kicked up a fuss.

now they’re all running around praising trump.

Transphobia is currently set to complete over-whelm. So, so sad. So, so draining. X

This mini thread from @clairemullaly.bsky.social is totally correct. WPUK do NOT get to walk away, with pride, from the work they have helped achieve because they don’t like the monster they’ve created. Countless trans people are now dead. The right has risen. The box is open. #notsocialists

It was the Today programme. Justin Webb was delighted to use the phrase. His transphobia always shines through. His journalistic tone is like Alan partridge but without a soul.

#radio4 transphobia in full force this morning. “Trans women or biological men”. Alluding to trans people affecting ‘same sex attracted people’ from the LGBA songbook. This country is not safe for trans people.

The loss of @theguardian.com as a progressive and social justice focussed publication will be seen by future historians as a disaster for the UK. Under Kath Viner the transphobic editorial, ‘barely there’ challenge to the right and attacks on Corbyn have been heartbreaking. I hope it is saved.

Jimmy is, and always has been, completely iconic. From chatting to me and signing me an autograph back in the 80s aged 7, to ALL of his music, joining the busker singing his song and now this. I ♥️ Jimmy Somerville.

Stunning theatre tonight at the RSC. Go see ‘The Red Shoes’. Poetic. Beautiful. Moving.

At the heart of this post though is the reality that yes, the process of transition really has shown me my true and genuine friendships and connections. People don’t expect me to justify and explain who I am. Who accept me. Unconditionally. As Transgender awareness week ends…stand by your Trans.

There is also the issues around the previously close friends who ARE transphobic. I still share many, many mutuals. Are the mutuals actually ‘my friends’? I have no idea. I wouldn’t have a racist or disablist friend.

So…I don’t know if they feel contempt/distrust/ discomfort because of me. Or my fellow trans siblings. I don’t know if I give them the ick.
They aren’t transphobic.
They definitely aren’t anti-transphobic.
Are they my friends? I have no idea.
So, being trans doesn’t reveal your friends?

Others went silent. They never let me know if they changed their mind. Or that they’ve read books by trans writers. Like ‘the Transgender Issue’ by Shon Faye. Or ‘Transitions’ by jane fae. Instead, they move through my world, around me, and talk to me. Without mentioning it. Smiling at me. Nicely.

They voiced their ‘concerns’ to me fearlessly. Few engaged with my suggestions for further reading. Some ramped up their transphobia Ie: by posting in the recent election that ‘safe spaces for women’ were the principal reason to cast your vote. Although, no party is currently ‘safe’ for trans folk.

On being trans and the idea that transitioning shows up ‘friends’. I’m thinking about previously close friends who sat with me while I attempted to justify my transness to them. Answering their questions. Explaining the reality. Finding them science, research, and counter arguments to the hate.

Because I am unoriginal I am copying @thedbh.bsky.social and shifting from Musky’s Twitter to here. I am petty, but I won’t call it ‘X’ until he respects trans people changing their names and pronouns.
