...impromptu movie date! Turns out the Super Mario Galaxy movie is...well, kinda random in where the story went, but it's very obvious the creators love Super Mario Bros. Also, kinda curious if their version of who Rosalina is to Peach is going to become canon in the games.

...and Amy genuinely thinks the response felt threatening enough that we've actually warned mutual friends not to get involved, so...no makeup plans after all. But on the plus side, the intended site was at a mall that had a movie theater, so...
It's not the only time either of them were late on the response, so in an attempt to not feel like I was sinking time into flaky plans, I asked that makeup plans be closer to us. They took that as a personal attack for reasons I genuinely don't get...
Amy and I were supposed to go on a double date tonight, but the other couple sent a message as we were nearly at the intended meeting site (which was much closer to them) saying they weren't coming anymore.
Confess your crush, dammit. They can't help fulfill your fantasy if you never tell them about it.
For today's #HappyMondaySurvey, do you have any stories where you realized you trusted or distrusted the wrong person? And once you realized it, what happened afterwards?
For today's #HappyMondaySurvey, what's something you feel like you were considering or pursuing (or already doing) for the wrong reasons? What happened when you realized that?
I wish those who supported the protests yesterday that your favorite TV show is renewed, you find $20 in some random corner of the house, that friend you've wanted to get back in touch with calls back, and you learn the name of that song stuck in your head but don't remember enough to search for it.
For today's #HappyMondaySurvey, what's something you feel like you should be good at, but actually think is pretty hard for you?

From last night in Drexel Hill, we've got New York Zoo, Scout, and Neotopia!
Today's crazy Edgmont story: the students have been watching a 10 minute video about current events. The segment that got the most audible reaction was one involving Punch, the monkey with a stuffed animal. I think my students just like cute animals. So, ummm...post pet pics for the kids?

From last night's date night in with Amy, we have Lucky Numbers (forgot to get a pic), Azul, and 7 Wonders Duel.
Friends in or near the Philly western suburbs, can I get a recommendation for a place that does STI testing outside of weekdays from 9-3, preferably fast enough to get results by next week? The place I used to go to doesn't have hours outside of the ones I've been working with the new job.
...I feel like I'm being hassled one full month and about 20% of the way through this entire time cycle told that I'm doing it wrong.
Yet here I'm also wondering if I'm the only one doing this too. Like, was I the only one out of the loop?
And I don't mind admitting if I misunderstood the assignment, I'll take blame where deserved. But now I just feel weirdly angry about being never told any of this earlier. Like, I feel like I got a lot of freedom to do whatever and come up with a customized plan here, and now...
...in spite of the fact that there is, to my knowledge, not a set itinerary for any of them, all while being fully aware that the current day-to-day plan we have is not well optimized for this new expectation.
And today, while turning in those forms, I was asked why I never listed anything on these tests, as if having all these worked on was expected all along, and was basically asked to come up with a progress report for everyone...
About a week ago, I was told to document which students I work with, and which skills I was using. The form I'm supposed to fill out has a spot for these tests, but between this previous direction and the fact that we had a test coming up this week that I felt took precedence, I never touched it.
Today I am once again confused about the expectations of my classroom job and feel like I'm resisting the urge to lash out about it.
About four weeks ago, I was told to stop giving out the usual tests we use to gauge their existing knowledge and move onto direct instruction. (continued)
People I used to know who voted for Trump whose primary reasoning was the threat of war, are you fucking proud of yourself?
Also, mutual friends of said people, are you pissed off and vindictive enough to send that message to them?
Student: "Are we your favorite students?"
Teacher: "No comment."
Student: "That really means yes, right?"
Teacher: "No, it means 'does not say'!"
Today's crazy Huntington story: one of the most common reading books we have uses a question format where they'll give a true/false statement about the passage, but with the option of "does not say" if the passage neither supported or contradicted it. Which led us to this exchange:
For today's #HappyMondaySurvey, tell me about something you were expecting to be far more of a hassle than it actually was.

Amy and I just playing games while she's staying at her dad's as he recovers from a surgery. Today's games? Wingspan, Machi Koro, and Welcome To.
She won the set 2 to 1.
Yesterday Greg and Cindy hosted a wrong party. The goal is that we all dress for a different party or event. We had people dressed for a beach party, a pajama party, a tea party, an Indian wedding, a country line dance, a pirate party, and several others, but I was there for the wedding party.
Today's crazy Edgmont story: some of my students told me they were expecting me to be mean when they first saw me. Which they admitted was mostly based on being tall and having that evil genius beard. I guess it's good to be misread.
Maybe a particularly unusual or difficult application process, maybe you got offered a job that you couldn't or no longer wanted to accept in the end, maybe you applied for one job but ended up with a different one. Whatever it is, got any fun stories?
I have job updates, but I'm also waiting for a few details to be confirmed first. But until I do, it's got job stuff in my head, so for today's #HappyMondaySurvey, I just wanna hear some stories about job applications.
Legal question for the crowd: does anyone know what the status of noncompete agreements are now? I was under the impression Biden enacted something essentially saying they were now unenforceable, but I'm not sure if that's still the case.
