Long time no see! Hope you are all well.

Just popping in to recommend Annie Bot by Sierra Greer.

MC is a comfort-bunny bot who has become auto-derivative. As Annie becomes more worldly, you experience her conflicting emotions as she struggles to come to terms with her life.

Yay I read that one a couple of weeks ago. I am also NOT a horror lover but T Kingfisher writes such delightful characters I couldn't help but enjoy myself. I'm looking forward to jumping into the next one... One day πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

Couldn't agree more. I'm definitely enjoying it, even if I understand about only 5% of what's happening. Is there a release date for #4 in the series do we know?

It's been awhile since I read Harrow but I LOOOOOVED it so I do actually remember bits and pieces (rare for me). It has not helped at all πŸ˜…πŸ˜…. Still I was prepared for complete confusion this time.

I went straight back to check I even spelt it right because I cannot be trusted. I also agree, Metal Singer sounds very intriguing!

The Bone Pickers by Devon A Mihesuah - 4⭐ which I found fascinating and enjoyed the short story format.
Scythe by Neal Shusterman - 4.25 compelling

A grinning woman holding a respirator mask in her left hand, wearing a trench coat that is off her shoulders. Background shows a number of skeletons and a white mixed breed dog with 6x legs.

Text reads 'You will love Nona, and Nona loves you.' - Alix E. Harrow

Ahh so I'm finally back to The Locked Tomb by Tamsyn Muir with Nona the Ninth.... It's still absolute confusion and my brain aches - BUT so happy to be back. I cannot wait to see how it all unravels.

I'm hoping to read my first by Blake Crouch soon in Dark Matter. He gets such rave reviews so I'm hopeful.

I really liked this one. I thought the different modes of travel were just so clever and imaginative. I was relieved by the ending to be honest, I was worried for a bit there.

Wrap-Up

My October was a month of surprises. There were books I was a little disappointed with and a couple that I enjoyed way more than expected.

My top read for the month was The Accidental Medium by Tracy Whitwell and the narration was brilliant by the author herself!

Oh I haven't watched the series so I can't compare!

1. Promise of Blood - enjoyed this one 4⭐
2. Dragonflight - 3.5⭐ it was fine, I liked the dragons but all the shaking of the FMC by the MMC was off-putting
3. Harvest of Hearts - 3⭐ it was fine but not outstanding. Lot of telling rather than showing.

Bahaha the death queue πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ damn I feel that to my soul. I think of it as pre-booked (pun intended) entertainment for my afterlife.

6 months ago 1 0 1 0

Yay! I hope you love it, I know I did! You have to tell me what you end up thinking of it when you get to reading.

6 months ago 1 0 1 0

I liked that the dragons weren't just glorified mounts for humans, but characters all of their own. I'm hoping the second book will be a bit stronger as I had some minor issues with the pacing of this one.

So this was a short sneaky one I read yesterday after finishing 2x of my other reads...

Thoroughly enjoyable and completely unexpected for a horror. I love T Kingfisher.'s work. Her characters are just so delightful.

Is cosy horror a thing?

My (@TheChaotic_TBR) graphic for my current reads Left - Promise of Blood by Brian McClellan Middle - Dragonflight by Anne McCaffrey Right - A Harvest of Hearts by Andrea Eames Promise of Blood and Dragonflight are part of by TBR buster side quest (books that have been on my TBR for a long time, in this case both over 10 years). A Harvest of Hearts is a book-club read. Graphic has a pastel floral background as its base to match the vibe of Harvest of Hearts cover. On the left side there is black and red smoke to cover the floral vibes and fit more with the Promise of Blood. In the middle just behind the Currently Reading text and above the Dragonflight cover is a red moon similar to that pictured on the Dragonflight cover.

I've been AWOL lately - been focussing on my bookstagram. Anywhozzleby...

1. Promise of Blood - am enjoying quite a bit and 75% complete 2. Dragonflight - 30% through and hoping FMC has a decent arc.
3. Harvest of Hearts - too early to tell

It was anything Enid Blyton for me I think. Loved Mr Meddle and all the Fantastic Five.

Update: 23/9/25

2. I'm 25% into Yumi and the Nightmare Painter... I will say at this stage I'm not enjoying it as much as Tress or The Frugal wizard. It'll be interesting to see how I feel as I progress further.

Update: 23/9/25

1. The Magicians: I'm 56% in and I've been enjoying it quite a bit up until now, and not understanding the 3.5 avg ratings - but now I feel like it's maybe dragging a bit. I will say the different magic and classes have been pretty cool.

So per a previous post I DNF'd Legacy of Brightwash, BUT I did enjoy the other 2x.

Shield of Sparrows was a Book-Club read and the first romance (though as a subplot) that I've enjoyed in a while.

That's not my name was a slow-burn. The characters were a bit younger than I prefer currently (17yr)

I read this one towards the end of last year and rated in 3.5/5. I think I found the first part a bit slow moving or something but by 40% I was invested and quite enjoyed the last 1/3 of the book.

I'd not heard of the Goose Girl fairy-tale before!
