Thank you so much, Jane!

Thank you to everyone who has donated to our family & shared the link. I truly appreciate the material help and the emotional support of knowing I'm not alone as I continue to fight my toxic family members to protect my mom.
If you are in a position to help us, I am extremely grateful. Thank you.
I feel lucky for sure. It was almost exactly a year ago that we saw our first, along with an also cool blue grosbeak:
Happy Birthday! πππ₯
Best wishes for the coming year.
Such sweet pictures. π
A beautiful photo of a very cool bird.
Last week on one of our birdwalks, my daughter spotted something and wondered, "Is that a bluebird?" We all aimed our binoculars, and just as we realized it was a lazuli bunting, two more flew into our view! A sweet moment that I keep replaying in my head. π
"Look forward, not back," is the soft landing of privilege.
Thank you! We just have to spread the word.
Dominique reminds me of this underrated movie. I say underrated because she's the first person I've ever heard mention it other than my family.
And this reminds me of a comic I made...

Yes! My daughters and I are fans.
Lovely photo.
We saw a family just like that out here last night.
When she first came on the national scene, clearly explaining complex topics, I was thrilled to see a smart woman out there. I was even happy to get to vote for her for senator.
Seeing who she's willing to throw under the bus has been very disappointing.
I don't live in Maine & I am not the intended audience, so when I see Elizabeth Warren rally with Graham Platner, it does not make me think better of him, it makes me think less of her.
Of course she was deeply connected to the deplorable politicians in my old MA town, so I shouldn't be surprised.
Players, too.
Ick.
Tressie was speaking specifically about ai, but I think it applies to the internet in general, "Itβs a world of mixed expertise and [the internet] has made Dunning Kruger a social contagion."
I know it's gauche, but I made myself laugh, and want to share.
I blow my nose in your free press pocket square (sung to the tune of "I fart in your general direction").
There are several Allen movies that I've watched repeatedly. Midnight in Paris is in the top 5 movies that my daughters and I rewatch (3 of the others star Meryl Streep). The only Brooks movie I've rewatched since childhood is Young Frankenstein. That said, Mel is clearly the superior human being.
I π Florine Stettheimer.
Thank you, Briony.
Cloud Bob is Tom Smith's virtual porn name.
Thanks, Jane!
Brains are really something. Even as they're breaking, they keep trying to work somehow.
Panel 1 of a 4-panel comic from an exercise on making borders. There is a light yellow border with tomatoes floating around the square. The comic panel inside is me and my mother standing at a kitchen island. She is holding a small can. She says, "What's this?" I respond, "Tomato paste. I'm gonna make a sauce for the meatballs."
Panel 2 of a 4-panel comic from an exercise on making borders. There is a pale green border with tomato paste cans floating around the square. The comic panel inside is my mother looking at the can she's holding. She says, "In this tiny can?"
Panel 3 of a 4-panel comic from an exercise on making borders. There is a light blue border with red sauce pans (dutch ovens) and meatballs floating around the square. The comic panel inside is me and mom at the kitchen island. She's still staring at the can. I say, "We make meatballs & sauce every Thanksgiving."
Panel 4 of a 4-panel comic from an exercise on making borders. There is a light grey border with red and blue drops floating around the square (blood & tears? sauce & water?). The comic panel inside is my mom staring at the can, with her brow furrowed, and a confused look on her face. She says, "I've never seen such a small can."
The "corner store" comment reminded me of this scene with my mother who also has dementia. I made the comic at a Friday Night Comics workshop--five minutes per panel! I like how it turned out. I stopped making comics when life's traumas started overwhelming me. I hope to get back to it soon. #comics
I hate ai. This morning I finally checked to see if an artist whose paintings I'd been seeing on here was real. They use ai.
Tressie's comment is in a thread of her home-repair nightmare, and yet it speaks to everything we're fucking up everywhere.
Get Happy!
Lovely photo. My daughters & I saw our first yellow warbler of the season on our birdwalk yesterday. My daughter, who has an amazing birder's eye (eagle eye?), actually spotted it in a tree from our car as we were leaving the park's parking lot! We hopped out of the car & saw it singing in the tree.
