On this day in 1986, the Isles of Scilly signed a peace treaty with the Netherlands, ending a 335-year war: the longest in history.
Apologies, I stand corrected (and it’s not just these new shoes).
Maria Branwell Bronte was born on this day in Penzance in 1783. She was the mother of Emily, Charlotte, Ann and Branwell Bronte, and helped to establish the first Methodist chapel in Penzance.

If news from the government today regarding devolution for Kernow is couched in terms of “if we make an exception for you, how do we resist calls for exceptional treatment from elsewhere?”, remember the Duchy of Cornwall has been, and continues to be, treated exceptionally from England since 1337.
The Take Back Water campaign has seen thousands of people vow they will not pay their water bill until the government returns water to public ownership.
Spot on.
Cornwall's people, culture and economy have always been entwined with our neighbours, to mutual benefit, most of the time.
But, just like everyone else, we expect our government to do what we ask, and to not try to tell us what to do.
Kernow is a nation.
It’s never been about ‘independence’ - it has always been about recognising and respecting Cornwall’s national origins.
