I just did a session with Claude, working out what sounds a crystal tree-being with a moss-symbiote could actually make.
I now have a phonetic menu for Vekis, the language used between Humans and Kethavi.
I knew what I wanted, but had no idea how to get there. Not sure I could've on my own...

Alien medicine rule one: the thing that looks like contact dermatitis probably isn't contact dermatitis.

PCs made it to Woodrue Botanicals, found a police incident. Two kids being held hostage inside by a green lady. Enthralled guards. No demands made. Coach faked being the deceased owner Jason Woodrue to get inside... to come have to face with Poison Ivy...
18 months of isolation on an alien station nobody fully understands. The caffeine substitute is called kef. The gravity runs at 0.73g. A silicon-based lifeform is your primary medical colleague, and there's an Omaharrah in C3 with an aggressive form of contact dermatitus. Good luck.

A concept sketch of a humanoid tree figure with branches emerging from it's arms, crystals embedded in it's bark.
A world-building project...
The Kethavi: silicon-based, bark-skinned, live underground. They perceive your emotions before you speak, and communicate on three layers. They introduced us to the galaxy. They've done it before.

Captured by the Artemis II crew during their lunar flyby on April 6, 2026, this image shows the Moon fully eclipsing the Sun. From the crew’s perspective, the Moon appears large enough to completely block the Sun, creating nearly 54 minutes of totality and extending the view far beyond what is possible from Earth. The corona forms a glowing halo around the dark lunar disk, revealing details of the Sun’s outer atmosphere typically hidden by its brightness. Also visible are stars, typically too faint to see when imaging the Moon, but with the Moon in darkness stars are readily imaged. This unique vantage point provides both a striking visual and a valuable opportunity for astronauts to document and describe the corona during humanity’s return to deep space. The faint glow of the nearside of the Moon is visible in this image, having been illuminated by light reflected off the Earth. [alt text from NASA]
The #Artemis II astronauts said they needed more superlatives to describe their view of the eclipse, when the Sun was behind the Moon and its near surface was faintly illuminated by Earthshine
Left a bug to feed the Surveillance information. Saw a redheaded gardener, a contractor leaving an invoice, and Woodrue's bereaved children trying to get in. They had the wrong RFID card. So, they'd have to come back. Coach (Mr Incredible)convinced Exie (Cyberpunk) to wait before infiltration.
School Nurse Julia convinced Doug/Cuchulainn to finish his high school education. Coach noted that nobody remembers him though. It threatened to trigger emotional overload in Cuchulainn. Connal told them to leave. They did recon of the Woodrue Botanicals lab...
Seavan City of Mist - s3e4
We were two players down - one on hiatus, one out for the session. Coach, Exie, George and Julia met with the Red Branch gang to ask permission to investigate the Woodrue Labs where Health Experimental Info can be found. They almost triggered a Cuchulainn eruption.
It would reinforce behaviors that stabilize caloric intake, circadian rhythm, and stress levels. Not because it “wants happiness,” but because volatility produces immunological noise and resource uncertainty.
Survival first.
There's fungi in your gut biome. Imagine that the mycobiome gained sentience and consciously controlled the symbiosis. It wouldn’t seek domination. Its motives follow ecology: keep the host alive, stabilize resources, modulate stress, and avoid immune detection.

I've gathered some of my game group to help create a new TTRPG.
PCs are symbiotic hosts to an "alien" influence fighting a proxy war of ideologies for the future of the earth... When you're forced to evolve, what will you sacrifice to keep your identity?

So, I've made the first tentative steps at building "What We Become", by inviting others to collaborate.
It's a science-fiction TTRPG exploring changing identities.
When you've no choice but to evolve, what parts of you will you sacrifice and what will you keep?
