D&D 5e when it first released and Chronicles of Darkness. I was a late bloomer.
I loved COD and it was everything I thought ttrpgs would be. 5e was a bad experience and a slog and it kept me away from D&D and fantasy games until I found the OSR.

I am unfamiliar with mork borg's mechanics but all their adventures have really fun sounding vibes. How easy would it be to take those adventures and adapt them to something like OSE?

Currently running a weekly Cities without Numbers problem of the week game set in Cyberpunk 2020's Night City.
I also have a biweekly Basic Fantasy RPG game that I run using a hexcrawl region Increated. Grim, grimy, plague ridden lands.
You should check out D12 Monthly! Great themed OSR releases usually with an adventure site, a couple house rule ideas or new monsters or NPCs
Been running CWN recently and have had skills on my mind My preferred way? Attribute Check with a small general skill list (~10). If skill fits, +2 to the Check, otherwise a normal roll. Encouraging use vs discouraging for folk who didn't puck right. If you use one, what's yours?
I find that this allows my players to guide the game to their preference and gives them reason to pursue interests that might be fun but not as lucrative. Also- as levels go higher, the amount of gold needed gets wild to place
I really have enjoyed XP-for-Exploration. Initially stole the idea from Neoclassical Geek Revival but have recently switched to a slightly simpler one. In total, I provide XP for encounters, exploration, "training" i.e spend a minimum of 100gp and get same back in XP after a week.
Agreed! Weird little spots off the trail, hidden in the woods. The flickering light of sanctuary for lost and worn travelers
Attribute loss is temporary and can be recovered one point per day spent in a settlement or stronghold.
Spending an hour resting here will restore all HP and Spell Slots. No monsters may enter the enclosure.
Must Save vs. Spells (modified by WIS) after each visit or lose 1d6 WIS points. Once WIS reaches 0, they will fully lose themselves and choose to remain in the shrine forever.
**Shrines of the Mother**
A small enclosed shrine, emanating warmth and comfort. A large statue of The Mother presides over visitors and the Eternal Hearth burning in the middle of the room. The brittle remains of worshippers to The Mother are arranged at her feet.
I think I might use this as a mini-blog. Less pressure. So here is an idea I'm kicking around to integrate a Dark Souls-like bonfire mechanics into an OSR game:
Cities without Number's hacking rules are so so nice. Been waiting for a ruleset like this for a loooooong time. Streamlined rules AND cyberware and gear porn? Yes please!!
Oh, I feel like I don't see this one come up as often regarding resources to look back on. What is the thing that you dig the most from it that makes it feel like the best to you?
