My heart goes out to Sen. Mark Warner, his wife Lisa Collis and their entire family who have served Virginia for decades. May the memory of Madison and the support of all Virginians comfort them at this time.

"Big Names" might be biding their time, waiting for the results of tomorrow's referendum, but I have been in this race to represent citizens of the 6th District all along. I didn't wait for politicians to draw a map custom-made for me.

Great piece about my campaign and the inherent sexism in politics when a woman runs against men who are uber-funded career politicians. www.dnronline.com/news/electio...
So excited to join Beth Macy for a great conversation on Wednesday!
Vivian Sanchez-Jones is one of Roanoke's most passionate advocates for immigrants and students, and she is an outstanding public servant in Roanoke. I am proud and honored to have her endorsement.
As the great Nikki Giovanni said, pride and defiance rising in her voice:
We will prevail!
We will prevail!
We will prevail!
We are Virginia Tech.

Jarrett was a budding engineer from Narrows, a high school valedictorian and a standout athlete. As a kid, he used to float Cool Whip containers down the New River, studying how the currents ran so he could one day build bridges.
We will never forget.
We are all Hokies today, as we remember those lives lost 19 years ago. I am thinking of Jarrett Lane and his family, whom I met as they were in the depths of their grief in the spring of 2007.
Recovery warriors threw down an event for my campaign last night, and it was lit: from left Ginny Lovitt (harm reduction pioneer), Fairfax mayor Catherine Read, me, and SUD jail treatment innovator Laura Yager. A local model that someone in Congress (ahem!) should make national. Women get shit done!
I am honored that my friend and Blacksburg legend Ron Rordam has endorsed my campaign. Ron, a three-term mayor and one of the greatest public servants I have ever known, is on the money when he says that the only way to help people is to listen to them first.
Paper Girl by Beth Macy does a fantastic job of showing how important local news is for a healthy community.
Americans are paying for Trump’s war in more ways than one. The illegal war of distraction caused inflation to leap to 3.3% in March, and that’s on top of all the other price hikes Americans have suffered due to Trump’s policies. And rising fuel prices hurt our farmers and rural families the most.
Hey y'all, sharing some updates, including what's happening to Virginia's immigrants, some notes on resistance by my fellow journalist Karen Hao, the redistricting referendum, and my upcoming book and campaign events. See you in the district and beyond, I hope!

My Beth Macy for Congress sign arrived! Kiddos were excited to pick a place in the yard for it before school.
Congress is completely useless at this point.
Things that help calm the nervous system, quickly:
- Box breathing (in for 4, hold for 4, out for 4, hold for 4, repeat)
- Immerse your face in cold water (activates mammalian dive reflex)
- Humming (stimulates vagus nerve)
- Exercise (anything helps, outside even better)
- Impeachment and removal
Thank you!
Americans are suffering, the world is suffering and now the Maniac-in-Chief is threatening genocide. Where is No Show Cline? It is long past time for Congress to show some balls and stand up to Trump -- before it is too late.
I just finished this book by @bethmacy.bsky.social It would take to many characters to explain why and how it moved me so this photo will have to do. I tear off strips of post it notes to mark interesting, important, excellent passages in books. I ran out of post its.
After speaking to her latest book on communities, Papergirl, renowned author Beth Macy rolled up her sleeves and engaged with the Roanoke VA, audience in what became a Town Hall for her run for Virginia’s 6th District House of Representatives seat. This is real representation. @bethmacy.bsky.social
These are the deceptive flyers anti-redistricting GOP PACs are sending to Democratic voters in Virginia. Particularly heavily Black and Latino areas.
Excited to participate in an immigration forum tomorrow with Harrisonburg mayor Deanna Reed! Guests include Ahoo Salem of Blue Ridge Literacy, Joy Sylvester-Johnson of Roanoke Asylum Seekers Network, and Dina Imbriani of DoGood Virginia. Learn how to help our refugee and immigration partners.
Why voting yes on Virginia redistricting is so important!
Thanks so much, so kind❤️🙏
Good morning and a very happy Friday to all! We made it 😎 Hope everyone takes a moment today and calls a GOP rep. Just pick a subject and call to complain...there are so many to choose from 😞
Have a great day and enjoy whatever you do today 🤗 Hope you can smile, laugh and find some peace ✌🏽 #FDT
This Monday, author of Dopesick and Paper Girl, 6th Congressional District candidate, and Roanoke resident Beth Macy poses the question: What happens to communities and the individuals who live in them when the infrastructures that used to provide support disappear?
Lot of truth here. Hence my AI policy for my students, based on advice from my friend @quincemountain.bsky.social “if you want to be a writer, go sit in a bar and talk about yr novel. But if you want to write, write.”
