It feels so great to be writing software again. Building something that solves a real problem for your customers with tight feedback loops along the way. It's so invigorating. There really is nothing quite like it!

In the past year, I've made the jump into both fatherhood and being a first-time founder. I think I may have slightly underestimated the amount of free time I would lose 😅. But I wouldn't change a thing! 👶🚀

Anyone working on the modern equivalent for these use cases?

Also.. when I have a friend asking for recommendations in a city I’ve been to before, I’ll pull up and take a look to jog my memory and recall places I’d recommend.

Mainly use for discovery when I’m traveling. “What are the top rated places nearby?” “Where have my friends been / what did they say about it?”

I’m one of a small handful of folks still using Swarm/Foursquare. But the experience is buggy and usage is waning.

I'm loving the open protocol + no walled gardens approach behind Bluesky. I'm curious: what’s the modern day analog for Foursquare? is there an open & user-owned solution for location tracking & discovery based on my tastes?
